    Holiday Vaccinations

I enquired at our surgery about travel vaccinations for our trip to Vietnam in October.I was told to ring in 4 weeks as they had to book the nurse time out to look at our records and see what we required. Today was the appointed day. I rang and was told there hasn’t been time for her to do this and to go along the road to the chemist who has a travel clinic there. I asked for a print out of our vaccinations to date which I was given. A bit miffed, I trotted along to the chemist who then told me to go home and register with ‘pharma.clinic’ on line, fill in the details and go back tomorrow.
Have you ever done this? It has reduced me to a quivering wreck. Because we are going to Cambodia too, I can’t get it to accept the dates. Move on, fill in details of when you last had certain jabs....not acceptable. I can only assume they are way out of date. Fine, I’ll change that then....I cannot for the life of me delete anything!
Now given up, I see Boots have a travel clinic, I’ll try there. If only the surgery had told me they couldn't do it in the first place, far too busy with dressings, apparently. 🙄

Oh dear Grauntie. What a waste of time for you. I hope that you have better luck at Boots. 🤞

        Oh how frustrating Grauntie 😒

I have no experience of travel vaccinations, but I'm sure it shouldn't be this difficult

Grauntie, they must think you have nothing better to do.

Never had any travel vaccinations. All we have ever had is anti malaria tablets.

I’m sure our surgery has a travel clinic, or at least they used to, and that’s where we’ve had ours before. Might have all changed now though. Didn’t know Boots had them, sounds like the best plan.

edited: Just looked on our surgery web site and it says that the practice nurses offer a full travel vaccination and travel advice service. Apparently you just make an appointment to see them although it did say to be aware that some vaccination courses take up to 8 weeks to be effective so to plan well in advance, Useful info and nice to know they still offer that service.

OH went to Boots today and they will sort us out when we come back from France.
I have come to the conclusion we have to look for another surgery. There is a new estate being built near to the surgery and I have no idea whether the powers that be intend to open another. On the positive side I did get through on the phone after waiting for only 5minutes or so. 🙄

Grauntie, I'm glad you got it sorted out eventually. It used to be so simple - go to the surgery, get the vaccinations you needed, go home, put feet up with a cup of tea! I do hope you are getting another surgery. It sounds as though yours is under a lot of pressure.

When we first went to Cuba about 13 or 14 years ago we were advised to have all sorts of vaccinations, and OH, DS2 and I all went along to the surgery and the nurse lined us up - job done in seconds. We found out later thought that staying in a resort you didn't really need them!

Nana - but there's the peace of mind that we're protected from just about any horrible lurgy you can think of!!!

Wasn't she off to France before her trip to far flung places ?
