    What an insult

Has anyone seen the Utube video of the Manager Mike Coupe from Sainsburys singing "we're in the money" such an idiot of a man specially when people have received redundancy notices how insensitive can you be.
Better news today about my boys job he has been asked to interview for the job he is doing now (if that makes sense)if he is not lucky to keep the job he will be offered a job on the shop floor.
We have disgused it this morning and he said that the company will keep him on Managers salary for 12 mths but I have pointed out that he will pay less tax and may be entitled to child tax credits so they may absorb the loss and ease their worries (and mine)

Glamm - Yes, it is good news for your DS, and I'll keep my fingers crossed for the best outcome.

I find it incredibly frustrating when people have to apply for the jobs they're already doing. If they're doing a good job then obviously the company will continue to employ them in that role. If they're not doing very well it could be for several reasons (eg lack of training) which are not their 'fault'. It seems an exercise in creating anxiety and wasting a lot to time and money!

Even if he gets moved to the shop floor at least he will have some job security Daisy do you know if they will be made to sign a new work contract when the merger goes through or will they continue with the same contract depending who is the major shareholder ? So many things to work through but at least I am not as worried as I was yesterday.I'll need to redye my hair blonde again all the grey is popping through fast.

A bit of relief then Glamma. Still a lot to sort out but at least your DS will be earning.

I would imagine that it'll be a new company when the merger takes place and all employees will have a new contract with the new employer. There'll probably be a new name and so people will be employed by that company.

I think if it's a new company TUPE agreements will apply - so an employee of the new company will have the same rights and benefits as if they were with the old one, eg, things like pensions, sick pay, holidays, maternity/paternity benefits. I do hope for Glamm's DS's sake it works out ok for him.
