    Cinema Prices ??

My youngest Grandson was invited to a night out with 4 friends from school to celebrate one of the boys 14th birthday,it was after school on Friday so was not a problem for DD to allow him to accept as there was going to be a sleepover afterwards so no school the next day.
On Friday morning DD gave DGS5 £22.50 that was £2.50 for ticket to travel to Liverpool One where the Cinema is and travel to Lpool cannot be done on his school bus ticket,£20.00 for snack meal at Nando's and for entrance to Cinema.
He came home at lunchtime yesterday and DD asked him if he enjoyed himself and what he had eaten and did he have enough money,he said he didn't have enough money when they got to Nando's for him to buy a drink as the ticket price at the Cinema was £11.50 each.!!
DD was mortified at the price as on this side of the River at one Cinema it would have cost them £5.00 each and at another close to where I live it would cost £8.00 such a massive difference to see the same film, that venue was chosen because the friends father was going to pick them all up in his people carrier on his way back from work,I felt so sorry for DD she does make sure they don't miss out on special occasion's but how on earth is the average family supposed to afford these kind of charges.

Glamma, this hits home with me!

Yesterday we went to the cinema with friends. They were going and asked us and another friend to join them, so it was their choice of venue. As the friends whose idea it was don't drive, they chose the city centre cinema, rather than the bigger Vue complex which is out of town. . Our senior tickets cost £11.50 each! I was shocked, we are used to going to Vue and paying far less. Admitedly this cinema is nicer than Vue, smaller and more classy. However I pay for the film not the surroundings, so won't be hurrying back to that one!

Have you bought theatre tickets lately? Our two tickets the the theatre in Cambridge came to £98 and that was just for the seats!
Haven't been to the cinema lately, so can't comment on price, but the last time I took GS our seats reclined and if the film had been less noisy, I could easily have fallen asleep!

we’ve used this link to get cheaper cinema tickets for adults. You only have to buy one days holiday insurance in the U.K. for about £3-4 to get the deal for a year.

The films don’t seem to be around for long now.

£10.40 for an adult ticket at our one cinema. they have a cheaper price for Tuesday and of course they have a seniors morning. My bank Loyds club A/c allows me 6 free tickets a year and my GS gets a free ticket from his employers a week, they are both for cineworld. that certainly does seem an unreasonable amount Glamm.

What amazed me was the fact that the film they saw was on in all the 3 cinema's and the difference between the 3 is less than 5 miles (as the crow flies as we have the River Mersey between us )

Glamm, it sounds as though if you lived the other side of the river, it would be cheaper to go over to your side. I suppose the dad thought he was being helpful. 😟

Yes it looks that way doesn't it Daisy, what does make me sad is that DD works so hard and manages her budget so well as to the children not going without treats and not having to refuse invitations but a couple of invites a month does make life difficult for her as she hates to not allow him to go to these gatherings with his pals (I do think Grandpa has made things easy with a donation) how young families are supposed to manage along with normal bills frightens me sometimes.

Qwerty the cinema near to us do a gift package for two people with drink and snacks for £16.00 which works out reasonable against the list prices and we do tend to buy them for the older DGCs if we are stuck as to what to give them for a surprise
