    Packaging Horror Stories

Yesterday a parcel arrived for OH. It was a small adapter thingy for his desktop calculator. This is the box it came in:

The box weighed nothing at all - filled with that air-filled plastic stuff and delivery was £7.00!!! It was supplied by a national stationers, ordered through Amazon. I think they should be ashamed of themselves for such blatant waste!

We have had packages like this from Amazon.
We think they only have two sizes of boxes small and enormous

I thought the postage costs depends on the size too. I had to pay more for a parcel to USA as it was just slightly too big. I was annoyed as I could of//have put it in a smaller box
I suppose it depends if they are delivering it themselves.

It makes me wonder if packers in these places are paid on piece work - ie the more they pack the more they earn, and it's quicker and easier to bung something in a huge box and stuff it full of packing material than it is to find the right size for packing. It makes me really cross!

Gem - we had one parcel from Amazon just before Christmas with over TWENTY FEET of that brown paper packaging. It was too long to spread it out and measure it properly but it went all along the landing and into the bathroom!

The planet is getting submerged in plastic, rubbish and toxic waste and if we don't start complaining about it to the people responsible nothing will change!

Amazons reply to my complaint last year on packaging was , its all 80% recycled and from sustainable sources . also its better to pack well than to have a item broken !!! what kind of answer is that ,
My DD for Christmas sent for a dog toy a sort of knobbly ball for Storm it came in a huge box like a Crisp box and yards of brown paper , A small ball takes all that packaging ?

I've complained to Amazon before, Oma, and got a similar answer. I think the accurate translation is "We don't care. We can't be bothered choosing the appropriate packaging for each item and the Planet isn't our responsibility anyway."

OH got a request for feedback on that delivery and he's said about the absurd packaging, and since the stationery firm had supplied it direct he's also made a comment along the lines of are they modelling themselves on Amazon!!
