    Feel stupid and very angry

Not sure if this is the right place to vent my anger but here goes. I saw advertised on line a Peek-a-Boo Bear from a company called Little Playland. after some time I contacted the company by email as I hadn't received the bear and they assured me I would be receiving it soon. When it arrived it was only packed in black plastic, it was made and dispatched from China and it had glue on its nose. I contacted the company again and at no time did they suggest I send the bear back. Asked for pic.of the bear and the packing, we have been exchanging e mails for a fortnight with no results so I Googled the company and there were loads of angry reviews and stating that the company was a scam. Some hadn't received their goods and some were arriving broken, so I added my angry review. I should have been more aware that there was no address or phone number on their website. I will look for that in future. I wanted the bear for GGS as he is just doing peek- a- boo but I certainly not going to give it to him knowing the history of these toys.

So disappointing plant, when you are not happy with items bought online.
It pays to do a bit of research when buying online.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

That is so annoying Plant you just don’t know where these things come from, many locations on e bay say location in for example Bradford and then when you research it a bit more they are based in China and have a warehouse or go between address , most upsetting for you but we learn by our mistakes your not alone it’s happened to a lot of us

Plant - I would be fuming, too. It's very hard to tell sometimes where good are coming from, as Qwerty says, and I've done much the same thing twice - ordered thinking the item was coming from the UK but one was coming from Germany (so took much longer than the expected delivery time) and another from the US.

If the advert was on, say, eBay you should report them to eBay.

I also wonder if you should report it to Trading Standards because even toys imported directly have to meet the regulations for children's toys, and it sounds as though this bear would fail. I wouldn't want to risk giving to your little GGS either. I hope you can find him something else. xx

I ace inserted batteries this evening and the bear is not performing apart from other issues. SIL thinks as I paid with credit card I might get reimbursed, not sure about that because I did have the bear, I am getting quite fond of him.

Plant - I think you could get reimbursed via the credit card company as well. From the legal point of view the item is not as described and doesn't work. I think you secretly want to keep him.

My friend’s mother brought some jewellery online. It was supposed to be a Christmas present for her GD. She was scammed out of several £100s of pounds . She ‘brought ‘ the item on line from a company that doesn’t really exist. She reported it to Trading Standerds but she isn’t holding her breath. She paid for it with a debit card which doesn’t give as much protection as a credit card unfortunately.

I will pop and have a look on my friend’s Facebook account because she posted the name of the company on there in a hope to stop others buying from them. I will come back and let you the company name so that no one here falls for the same con

Its called www.jewelrysuks.com. The name seems to shout beware to me , how about you ?

Mimi - it does sound an odd name, but then so do a lot of legit business names. I've learned to read the whole web site now, including the Terms and Conditions, and very often you can spot errors in their English which aren't just 'normal' grammar glitches that we can all make at times. But the item from Germany was a very well-known name, but they seem to operate dozens of companies under the same umbrella. I still find that sort of thing confusing. I was shopping on that huge site we all know last night and it was really hard to tell whether they were the sellers or wether it was a third party!

I’ve had a look at the site the company name seems odd but the site itself does look genuine they are nothing more than thieves should be locked up !!!!!

Yes Qwerty it does look a genuine company but not having an address or phone number, I shall be aware of that in the future. I am still having emails from them and today asking for pics of the bear and pretending they are trying to resolve the issue. I informed them that I am going to report them to the Standard Trading Office after reading the reviews I realise I am not the only one. I suppose I should be pleased that it was only £23 and I might get that back from my bank credit card.

This has happened to me a couple of times on e-bay when I have thought the Company was based in the UK.I think it is called "dropped shipping" the Company address here in UK take a batch of orders and get paid for them and then order from their Head Office in China hence the time scale in the posting. If you bought via e-bay just tell them the item is damaged and they will refund in full if you bought & paid with your card do a "chargeback" and get refunded its so disheartening when we are ripped off like this.

Feel annoyed but don't feel stupid Plant, it is something any of us could do.

Lots of good advice from posters above.

We are still exchanging emails, just a load of rubbish really. I have sent them the pics they requested, told them I had informed my bank and said if they don't do something to resolve this issue I would contact the Trading Standard Office. I have also asked them not to wish me a good day on every email, I think we are up to 10 now. I feel sorry for the bear, nobody loves him.
