I used to belong to a craft group, and we called it a RAK.....random act of kindness. We would send people little gifts of crafty items, things we no longer used or just a few little ribbons etc. it was a lovely idea and nice to carry it on in other ways."Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." - Dr Seuss

I think it's a lovely idea ,
Many years ago when our shopping centre had a real butchers , we were waiting for a old lady getting served she was buying mince and said to the butcher that the lamb chops looked lovely but she couldn't afford them , so I said to the butcher quietly to put a couple in and I would pay for them without her knowing , well she went off with her pack not knowing she had the chops , the butcher said that's kind but I told him I would like to think someone would do that for my mother if the tables were turned ,
About 30 minutes later the same lady was standing in the queue in Sainsburys with two large bottles of Whiskey telling the cashiers he liked her Whiskey they cost about £20 at the time and it was a lot of money , I felt like saying give me my chops back if you can afford two bottles of that you can afford chops , we laughed our heads off and still laugh about it now , I hope she enjoyed them old devil 😀Im not fat just 6ft too small

'Paying forward' is a lovely idea and I'm all for random acts of kindness. Yes, there will be people like Oma's old lady, but that doesn't take away from the kindness that Oma showed when she quietly paid for the chops.

Granma2aj, what a kind man! Stories like that are very inspiring.
This Easter some organisation in our village left random Easter eggs, with a note, on peoples doorsteps ( not ours sadly!)
Sometimes a bunch of flowers is left on a bench somewhere, with a note to enjoy the flowers or pass them on. I think these are from the methodist church. I read on our village facebook group that the last ones found were taken to brighten the day of an elderly lady living alone.“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

Well we did wonder how many times she was helped To be honest if I remember it was only about £1 for the chops as this was 20 years or more ago but it still makes us smile
I love the idea of leaving flowers I bet that old lady was very thankful and they gave her something to smile about ,
Clover your right , People are kind but as you say we only hear the bad not the good ,
A few weeks ago my Great Nephew and 3 of his friends paid for a homeless man to get his hair cut , they got talking to him and he said he missed not having his hair cut , they went into a little shop and asked the barber if he would do it and clubbed together to pay for it , these are 13 yr old children , just shows the young are not all brought up badly, The barber also gave the man a shave free of charge , one good deed sets the ball rolling to another good deed doesn't itIm not fat just 6ft too small
