    My local coffee shop

We are very lucky in our village as we have 3 nice coffee shops, plus the petitioned-against Costa, LOL.
Aroma is my favourite and it seems everyone's favourite. New coffee shops come (and go) but Aroma remains as popular as ever. It's a lovely, relaxing happy place to be.
I am very proud of it, so wanted to share it with you.
Our forum is pretty much closed to newcomers at the moment so I am happy to share this. As it pinpoints my exact location I will remove this at some point in the future however!

Gems what a wonderful set-up for the local community something which is very close to my heart after the in depth work DD and I did when we worked for St Vincents de Paul sadly that is a thing of the past as the AM is also going down the line of suggesting the shop DD worked at is not viable and she is set to be closing the shop by the end of June,I wish I lived nearby as a volunteer position would be right up my street.

I wish you did too, to see Glamma in there would make it even nicer

On our village green we have a lovely little place that used to be the village Library but sadly these places come and go as we also have a large shopping centre not far away where most people go , This means only the people living around the green and the visitors to The George Washington ancestral family hall use them , not enough customers to be viable most of the time

We have lots of cafes/coffee shops/bistros in our village and I'm afraid I rarely go into them. I should get out more! Yours looks lovely, Gem.

i go out every week with a local group. It was intended to start a residents association but it didn't work out. There are about a dozen of us and we have coffee/breakfast one week and a pub lunch the following week at a variety of venues. Quite a lot of coffee shops around here but my favourite is Vanilla. Freshly prepared food and excellent coffee. Really friendly group and something to look forward to.

Also a bonus to find myself the youngest of the group! The oldest is 91. I chickened out when an 87 year old told me about her keep fit where they do ".line dancing, aerobics and another thing I forgot. She offered to give me a lift but didn't want to be shown up by an .87 year old!

Shem it gets rarer to be the youngest of a group, grab it while you can

We have a great coffee shop locally. Many of us meet there, and maybe just call in when passing. A while ago the dreaded Costa coffee opened a few doors up. There was speculation as to whether it would harm trade. It hasn't. There seem to be enough customers to go round I'm pleased to say.

Shem - your 87 year old friend sounds very energetic! But how loverly for you being the youngster in the group.

GM - I feel sorry for owners of small cafes, or any shop for that matter, when the 'big names' move in right next door. I always try and stick with the small independent if I possibly can.

I much prefer independent coffee shops.
