Bt open reach scam?

Just had a phone call said they were off bt open reach I had a problem with my Internet he could fix it for me I just said was not with bt and hung up just wondered if anyone has had this or is it new scam wonder how many people get caught out with it

I had one yesterday from Emma Mills {Indian call centre Indian accent) saying they could save me money on my bills if i allowed access to my computer as they had been looking at my bills on line for the last 3 month and i was paying too much , i pointed out that was impossible but she assured me my last 3 months bills were more than need be , After i informed her she was telling lies as we didnt have BT she hung up , Now i wonder why

They try everything to separate you from your money. You would think by now they would have got the message.

I've just clicked on a link on FB and this huge threatening message came up warning me that if I shopped on line I would definitely have all my worldly wealth stolen, and out of the kindness of their hearts they could fix my Microsoft problem for me provided I let them have control of my computer - or something like that. They obviously hadn't noticed I don't use Microsoft!!

The sad thing is as long as someone falls for it they will carry on.

Its that old scenario again called "if it looks too good it probably is" I do think we are much more alert now than a few years ago ladies we are a savvy lot us nanna's.

I am a BT customer and they have an offer on at the moment that hopefully will help a little on these unwanted phone calls. I'm not entirely sure how it works, I think it works on the same idea as a spam filter on your email account.
It's called BT Call Protect, it lets you choose which call you want to take and which ones to send straight to a separate junk voicemail.
I have just signed up for it but I haven't had reason to use it yet so I don't know if it's of any use at the moment, but anything that will help must be a good idea. It's taken the likes of BT and other phone companies to come up with something like this in this age of advanced technology!

If you are not with bt go on the Tps website its free think it takes 28 days to kick in we have it stops calls from all eu country if they do call think the fine is £5000 my house phone tells us if it is international or withheld then we dont pick up also have it on mobile

granma2aj - We've got TPS as well, and it is free. It doesn't stop non-European call centres, but it's certainly reduced unwanted callers to a trickle rather than an avalanche. I didn't know you could put it on your mobile as well. Definitely worth doing though. Thanks.

As I have posted before I always pick up if it says withheld because the doctors and hospitals calls always are withheld.

OH got new fones for the house & they're safety crazy😂 They block calls unless you programme them to do otherwise. Time I read the instructions 'me thinks'. My sister couldn't even get through the other day.
