We bought a new headboard and as ours is a Super King size, rather than take it to the tip as it was in excellent condition and at that size rather expensive to buy I offered it free on our local free&wanted site , a lady replied immediately asking could her husband come for it tonight , Well he has just been for it in his works van I said it's very big and heavy so you will have to give me a hand down stairs with it , wasn't having OH lifting it , his face was a picture and he moaned all the way down the stairs and out to the van , oh its awkward ,it's really heavy , then had the cheek to ask if I had a blanket or some plastic to wrap it in 😲 when I said no he said we'll it might get dirty in my van 😠 So I said sorry not my problem your getting it for nothing you should have came prepared . I felt like taking it back off him 😠😠😠😠

Same hear Gem , I remember one lady a few years ago who came for a blanket box we were giving away she was thrilled with it and couldn't thank us enough , we have also had people who didn't turn up and didn't bother to let us know so it's been offered to the next person but it's annoying they can't just message and say sorry changed my mind . Even though this man was so ungrateful it wouldn't stop me offering as you always get one don't you who think they doing you a favour taking it off your hands 😊Im not fat just 6ft too small

Oma - we've had the same sort of experiences with goods we've put on Freecycle. It's a brilliant idea and I think it's great if someone can benefit from something I no longer need, but it does annoy me when people say they'll come and have a look, and you wait in, but they don't come, or expect you to deliver at their convenience.

Most people I've come across have been very pleasant to deal with but I did have one lady who turned her nose up, quite rudely, at the item I was offering and then asked if I had anything else she could look at - she seemed to feel I should somehow compensate her because the first item wasn't up to scratch. I don't understand the people who say they want something and then don't turn up. Freecycle should ban them if they do it three times as it probably stops people offering items if they get let down.xx

DD will not offer anymore on Freecycle as the lady who came to view the teenagers bike she so desparatly needed was not up to her expectations,it was 4 yrs old and had been used but was not in bad condition and DD would not offer anything she would not have accepted for herself,so after bringing it into the house and lady refusing it the bike was left in the hallway for 3 days so she could find another person interested.Keep Calm,You're Fabulous

HeeHeee, I just got fed up and left it! On my laptop now
What I wanted to say was we once gave away 2 computer desks in very good condition (just after OH and I moved in together) The man who took them asked if we had any more desks he could have!!“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

What gets me angry is when someone offers say a sofa or fridge and people ask for photos and refuse them if they slightly marked , If your that desperate you need something for free anything will do till you can afford better yourself . There has been times when people have taken from the kind people on the site then have sold them on Gumtree or ebay , that's shocking . The site I use is our local group on FB and administration are on the ball anyone found doing that are banned as are people with no manners , you often get people who put "I want such and such free" no please or thank you . Admin pull them up about that instantly.Im not fat just 6ft too small

I totally agree Oma,we do a referral system at work where people are helped to furnish their home when they have difficulty in their lives and you would be amased at the amount of people who come and and demand a certain sofa in a certain colour and a kingsized bed as opposed to a standard double.well if you come in to me for such things you will be delivered what we have as surplus but I always make sure they are sent something that I would find acceptable myself one lady wanted a huge coffee table to stand her 50" TV on and she was shown the door as I don't think that is an emergency at all.Keep Calm,You're Fabulous
