Driving to the heath today and on a particular busy road a puppy of 4/5 months shot across the road, I had to brake sharply so poor Shiloh was bounced around in the boot. A land rover coming in the other direction braked as well. I shot out of my car and spoke to 4 kids all aged about 12, asked if it was their dog Yes they replied well get it on a lead I said, to which one gobby girl said he's alright. I said no it's not alright and actually apart from endangering your dog and motorists, you are actually breaking the law. I asked wheres its lead, at home they replied beggars belief, either the parents are totally irresponsible or didn't know they had the dog with them. One of the boys managed to catch it and I offered Shilohs lead but they declined. I told them to keep a firm hold of the pup and not to let it happen again. I am still shaking and if I had hit it would have felt dreadful, luckily no one was behind me when I stopped so sharply as my precious cargo could of been seriously hurt. Grrrrrrrr.

Unbelievable !! those children are old enough to know the dangers they just don't care or have an it would never happen to them attitude,so glad your boy was OK you deserve a large vino to settle your nerves if you are staying home now. xx

Libra no wonder your nerves are shot to pieces, this could have turned out to be a very nasty accident.
It strikes me that if the family of the boy (s) with the dog were regular responsible dog owners the dog would have been on a lead, it would have been second nature to the child to put the dog on a lead.

LG - what every one else has said - and well done to you for avoiding it. You would have felt awful if you'd hit it. I would be needing something to steady my nerves as well!

Some people just shouldn't have dogs - and some children should know better than to take a puppy out without a lead. I don't like to any dog near a road without a lead on, and I even worry at some whose collars clearly are too loose if the dog pulls. I think harnesses should be compulsory near roads!

Poor Shiloh, I hope he was ok.
