yesterday my eldest G D was working on the till where she works looking after and selling lots of different animals. A man brought five boxes of six eggs to the till and it came to just under £4. He insisted GD was wrong and added we spend all this money on your education and you can't even add up. Even after explaining to him how much they were a dozen and he had 2 and a half dozen he still insisted she as wrong. Unfortunately her boss was not around so she fetched another assistant who works in the riding clothes dept. but he still insisted he was right and gave her what he said was right and walked out of he shop. I wish I had been there.

A couple of years ago I was in Superdrug and they had not long stopped selling newspapers. A woman in front of me had a go at the young girl (obviously a student on weekend work) about not being able to get a paper there although there are plenty of other places to go nearby. The girl was very polite and apologised and said that she didn't know why they were no longer stocking the papers as she just worked there so they wouldn't tell her. The woman got very nasty and then snatched her goods from the counter in the bag (no 5p in those days) and accused the girl of short changing her. As I was a bit fed up with the woman holding me up I had been watching closely. She definitely gave a £5 note not a £10 note. The supervisor came over and gave the woman change for £10 and apologised for the problem. The woman walked out five quid richer. I am afraid my mouth sort of went into overdrive and I told the supervisor how badly the girl had been treated by the woman and that the till would be £5 down at the end of the day because she hadn't believed the girl. I gave her my business card if she wanted to discuss the short fall in the till further. I never heard from them. I think sometimes people only try to bully those they perceive will not answer back. Needless to say there are not a lot of opportunities given to people to bully me!!!!If you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far go together

A few years ago I was in our local council office in a queue behind a man pays his council tax. He literally threw the money and his payment card at the very young assistant behind the counter and said in a threatening voice,
"Here is my ******* money for this ******* council tax bill you have sent me. You lot get away with daylight robbery. You should be ashamed of yourselves. "
She was very polite to him , said thank you when she handed back a receipt but I could see she was upset.
He was a bully, if there had been a man behind the counter I would have doubted he would have behaved like that.
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

Plant - your poor GD. I do hope this nasty, ignorant man didn't spoil her day. There's absolutely no need for such rudeness, and as everyone else is saying, they seem to pick on the younger staff.
Zizi - good for you for standing up for that girl.
Mimi - I've had customers (men) in my son's shop who wouldn't let me serve them because they clearly thought an old biddy like me couldn't possibly know enough about photography to understand what they wanted!"Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognise how good things really are.
