    Anything but a plate!

I have a bit of a 'thing' about food being served on strange receptacles! Some restaurants appear the think that an actual plate would be too boring.

Slates and boards being my biggest bugbears. Sauces and salad dressing run off both, and the wooden boards can surely not be hygienic!
Chips in daft wire baskets and tiny buckets are silly too. Perhaps cute the first time you ever see them, they are old hat now and annoying!
I follow this page on FB and see many amusing posts

As you might expect, coming from the Potteries, I deplore anything that isn't a bone china plate made in Stoke-on-Trent!!!!

We ate in a very nice Italian restaurant tonight, and I am pleased to say that everything arrived on plates or in bowls.

Gem - bowls are just about acceptable - especially for soup!!!! Glad you had a good evening.

One day I'm sure someone will find a way of serving ice cream in a wire basket!!!!

In a restaurant I was once served a meal on , what looked like , a wooden chopping board. I was able to clearly see that it had deep marks on it that would have been caused by previous customers knives and forks. Needless to say I sent the chopping board back and asked for my meal to be served on a plate. !

I think more of us should send these things back, I usually just moan about it to my dining companions!

Clover - I had forgotten you are married to a fellow Potter!

Mimi - I hope it was a fresh meal, not just the original one transferred, bugs and all, on to a plate. Using a chopping board is bad enough but i've seen some I would't have in my kitchen - deep cut marks, and looking decidedly grubby. Urghhhh
