    ordering goods online or telephone

i have been looking for wallpaper for sitting room and want to make sure i like it, so only 1 i really like, decided to order it from B&Q went online and showing 4 available, needed 12 so rang order line, told them when i get to basket it shows only 4 available would she be able to have a look and see if any of the stores have it in stock, of course she could she said.....had a look put the order in and said it has worked for me, will i place your order, so order goes in net day express delivery....order has arrived and guess what 4 rolls of paper, now out of stock..

So of course straight on the phone to B&Q i got can you get to this store that store, no i couldn't too far away and why should i when i have paid for delivery.....so i'm not going around the houses and spoke to a supervisor who is now seeing if he can get me 12 rolls of matching batch paper.....

You would think that someone would have give me a call to say "sorry we only have 4 rolls, would you like them delivered or cancel order" or is that too easy, supervisor said take them to the shop and they will give me a refund....

Why are the simple things never simple, waiting for a call back, they have taking payment for 12 rolls so will have to wait 3/5 working days for refund to appear...

Pearl that is so annoying! You ordered 12, you expect 12 and certainly don't expect to drive around from store to store for them when you have paid for delivery!

As you say, a call or email was all that was needed before going ahead and delivering the 4 rolls.

Do you now have to start looking again for a new one?

Gemini thankfully they have 12 rolls in my nearby store so customer services has sorted that out but OH has to collect them within 24 hours....so he is collect.#ing them on his way home from work, annoying but i have the wallpaper i want

It took awhile for me and OH to agree on a paper we have such different tastes, normally, well within my group of friends there OH has no say, it did end up him saying well get what you like i am not bothered anymore... so i did...

Pearl, we've had similar problems ordering from B&Q. You ring up to see if what you want is in stock in the quantity you want, they say 'yes' and you get there to find out it's not. We wanted 53 (hard to believe, but true) knobs for the kitchen and utility room cupboards and OH ended up going to at least 4 different branches to get them. The nearest branch was 15 miles away! Another time we ordered something bulky and asked for it to be delivered, but the only branch which had the item in stock wouldn't deliver it - because we were half a mile outside their delivery area!

I'm glad you and your OH 'agreed' on your wallpaper in the end. That's pretty much what happens in our house. LOL

Daisy utter madness isn't it..glad we are not the only ones to sort such decisions out like we do...

OH went to the customer service desk with the ref number, he rang me off his mobile to say they know nothing about it so no rolls of wallpaper, once i'm on one i am so i said give her your mob i will speak to her, just then someone came in and said he knew about it so gets the wallpaper.....phew my stress levels were high, i wasn't quite at the point of using "naughty" words yet but he wouldn't have been leaving the shop without the paper ...

So OH has rang me to say he is having a cuppa with his mam and has the 12 rolls of paper, so i asked him if he likes it, he started laughing saying "I don't know i never looked at it"....give me strength, good job i love him no one else would put up with him...

The only wallpaper I have in the house is on one wall in the GS's bedroom. I was cheeky enough to tear a good length from two different rolls of Super Heroes wallpapers as samples in B&Q. I used the said 'samples' in two large frames. This way I won't have to wallpaper again when he changes to Medieval Knights/animals/cars or whatever phase comes next.

Well done Pearl for keeping calm & sticking to your guns. Pleased you got there in the end.

Well done, Pearl. I'm glad you got there in the end, but I don't know why with all the modern technology at their disposal these big stores don't seem to know what stock they've got in.

We haven't got any wall paper in our house - we'd never be able to agree on something we both liked. There was horrible wallpaper in our bedroom when we moved into this house - it was shiny but seemed to soak up all the light in a room which faces due north. I found it really depressing, but we removed it carefully and OH lined the walls before we painted them. Phew! It would have given me nightmares, I'm sure.

I am going to go through this in a couple of weeks time when I have my holidays from work, seeing that we didn't go ahead with the bungalow move,I have chosen the paper from Rapid in Liverpool and settled on two designs of gold paper, one a traditional stripe and the other a filigree design both in the same shade I've gone for that colour so I don't have to change the lounge voils they are antique gold and burgundy so will match up perfectly,if there is time I may just suggest we do the bedroom but I will tread gently with that suggestion lol.

No wallpaper here either. We have very bumpy walls though, so have put up a lightly textured paintable paper, so easy to repaint or touch up when needed. Upstairs is a loft conversion so the two bedrooms up there have nice smooth walls so just paint, makes life much easier

We have wallpaper in the downstairs loo, which looks like little blue, white and grey mosac tiles.
We are decorating our living room at present, and will have just the chimney breast with wallpaper.
