Found out last night our niece was Broken into on Tuesday evening between 5.30 and 7 . She had taken the children to her mother's house for tea just two streets away and when she got back at 7 they had been and gone , They had gone through all the rooms even the babies stuff. They will have known when they went in there wardrobe and seen her and her husbands Police uniforms that they will be tracked to hell and back . She's more angry than upset , she said she's took plenty of these calls about other people's homes being broken into but you never expect your own do you

Oma that's horrible, the thought that some strange has been searching through your own personal possessions, even the babies things, it makes your skin crawl.
I hope they catch the vile person/persons are caught and that the criminal justice system gives them more that a token slap on the wristsBring me sunshine in your smile.

We were burgled four times always in our shed, garage. As soon as we replaced the mowers they came back again. They took meat from my freezer in the garage,a tent and some tools. They actually
lifted a ride on mower over our car the first time, we then had an alarm fitted and when they came back for the replacement they scarpered when it went off. What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare

I'm sorry your niece has had this horrible experience Oma.
I suppose a lot of people would be preparing a meal at that time of day and might not notice strangers about.
I confess to being rather nosy and often look out of the window to see what is going on and always take note of strange vehicles. Of course now the evenings are darker and curtains are drawn it's not that easy to spot people or vehicles we don't know.
I hope these lowlife get their comeuppance really soon and are made to set an example.

Oma - what a horrible thing to happen to your niece and her OH. I hope the people who did it get caught but I suppose the chances are they'll just get a slap on the wrist and told not to do it again!!! Like your niece, I'd be furious - we often get minor break-ins on the allotment and we never leave anything valuable there, but the last time they took hand tools, like a hammer and a screwdriver - petty and annoying! I hope knowing the house belonged to police officers gives them nightmares!!!"Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognise how good things really are. "

Same house 12 years later we came back from DD3s dancing show one evening , to find we had been burgled. Poor DD was only about 10, and a lot of the stuff was hers. PlayStation, PS games, CDs and cash from her money box. They took jewellery, a camera and a couple of other things, as well but most of it was hers.
So, people like this don't care if it is a baby's room, a child's room, or a vulnerable elderly person. A lot of them want/need the money for drugs.
There was a satisfactory ending the the 2nd break in. The police told us they knew who was doing the break ins in our area but hadn't yet been able to prove it. Of course he denied ever having been in our house. However in his pocket when they searched him he had a game card from the PlayStation. The policeman asked if he could talk to DD3, so of course we agreed. He said if she happened to know the exact point she had left the game at, and it was at that stage, then it was proof if was ours so he had done the burglary. DD knew, and that was enough to get himI got my watch back, and we got the camera but everything else was gone. Insurance covered the things DD lost but not nice feeling for a child. to have her possessions stolen

When my DD was burgled they took there shoes off at the back door it was raining and she had cream carpets so they knew they would leave footprints , we think it was someone they knew as they knew where stuff was kept they took her new hoover but the broken Dyson was still in the same place with its cord still wrapped they knew where she kept her jewellery only that draw had been opened , they took a half bottle of brandy but left the full one , everything was very tidy it was only because the TV AND Music centre and Video was gone and back door had been kicked in that was evidence of a break in , They had made a cup of tea and sandwich but we're kind enough to wash up after themselves , all points to someone they knew they would have known they had time for a snack before she came homeIm not fat just 6ft too small
