    Parcels left on doorsteps!

Do you find that more and more parcels are just left on your doorstep, even when you are in?

Frequently we will hear the doorbell, go to the door to find a parcel on the step and see the delivery van disappearing down the road. They don't wait to see if we are in, just drop it and go.

I have my next door neighbours on my Amazon details, so to be fair all Amazon deliveries which won't fit through the letterbox go next door.

About 5.30 today I had an email to say something I had ordered had been delivered. I didn't expect it to arrive while we were away. I messaged my neighbour on the other side, who is kindly watering the greenhouse plants, and flower tubs if the rain stops. I asked if he could check if this parcel was there and if so could he leave it in the shed. It was and he did, so all well.

If I didn't check my emails regularly and have a good neighbour I could get in touch with, who knows where that parcel would be by the time we get home next week?

The lady who does my nails was telling me that they had something stolen from their front doorstep recently. She said there are vans who go deliberately following Amazon delivery vans so they can lift any parcels not taken in straight away

Gem it’s happening all the time ,
We we’re out a few weeks ago I spoke to the driver through the door bell and asked him to pop the parcel behind the plant pot at the front door as we would be back shortly.
He had done but pushed it so far behind it came out the other side so was sitting on the drive when we got in , in full view so that was a waste of time .

Next door had a parcel stolen by the Amazon man himself , he left it on door step took a picture then took it away again, didn’t notice her security cameras, so he was in trouble.

Our regular Evri driver is very good. She always waits for us to answer the door, but most delivery people seem to ring the bell, not giving you time to answer and then dump parcels on the step. I know the drivers are always under pressure but it seems the customer comes last with some of them.

I came down this morning to find a parcel by my back door! No name, no message, nothing! The label said 'A Hug in a Box'. inside were sweets, blondies, fruit and beauty products! Turned out is was from my DD, she hadn't wanted to wake me, so crept round the house and then forgot to message me when she got to work to let me know it was there!

Lovely surprise and as I'm still trying to get over a nasty chest infection ( which antibiotics don't seem to be shifting) much more sensible than a proper hug! Looking forward to trying one of her home made Jammie Dodger Blondies later with a coffee! GS popped round the other afternoon with a pile of books and handed them over on the doorstep!

Our delivery drivers aren't too bad. Some will leave on the doorstep, others will put them behind the front gate. But, I agree, it's often a case of drop and go! I really must get a new ring doorbell so I can see who's there! Would have caught DD creeping round this morning!

WeeGranny, that was a very thoughtful gift from your DD, but you must have been quite puzzled to find the parcel on your back doorstep. I hope you're soon feeling better - there seem to be some very nasty bugs about.

            How lovely WeeGranny.

Our Evri driver is very good. She always rings the bell, then puts any parcels in the back porch.
If we are out, and the porch is locked, she will leave them in a safe place.

I have heard a few times about drivers putting parcels in the bin, customer hasn't known and its ended up being thrown out.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

I would like a new bell to tell me who has been but DD and Sil have one which apparently stops me from having one too. We are off the road up a track so reasonably safe from having parcels stolen.

Plant, what a pity you can't get a new bell, but I would think you could have a security camera that would show anyone coming to your door. I know of someone who doesn't have a Ring doorbell (because it drives their dog absolutely crazy) but have got a couple of Ring cameras round the back of the house as it's easy for intruders to climb their fence from the dark pathway behind their house.

Because we are abroad we can't see our Ring camera. When OH was in Portugal she could, but I guess that was because I, the account holder was at home.

                    WeeGranny, what a lovely surprise!

I have heard of parcels been left on doorsteps here, in fact, I live on the 5th floor and have arrived home a few times to find a parcel behind the plant, which, is very safe as no one just happens to pass up here. If I am not home they will leave them with the neighbour, the other way round as well. We now have those safes in the village where we can go and collect, or deliver, our parcels ourselves, it all works with codes, I haven't done that yet, I do read that it doesn't always work as it should as you open the safe to find the wrong parcel. Then again, as I cycle past I do say people using them.

They seem to be popular , like you I’ve never used them.
