    Bah, humbug.

I know I'm a grump about Christmas starting in August, but I've just opened en email from Sainsburys, timed just a few hours ago, saying to book Christmas delivery slots!

Much against my principles, but wanting to be practical I went ahead. All of my preferred slots were already full. Grrrrr .....

I’m a humbug! I’ve always disliked Christmas except for when the children were very small but every year it creeps up and takes over. For the last few years DS and DiL have hosted, and although they do it splendidly, it’s all too much. So when this year they asked us if we minded them accepting to spend Christmas with DiLs cousin we were very happy. DD doesn’t care for Christmas either and we knew they wouldn’t mind if we went away, so that’s what we’re doing. Going to the Avignon for a week and escaping the lot.
      Yes I’m a grump!

I think, you should be free to spend Christmas the way you want Sum1.
For me it is to be with my family, but for some it's go away. It sounds as though you will have a lovely Christmas!

Unusually for me I have done no Christmas shopping whatsoever. None of us have discussed Christmas plans, but it's a bit early for us.

Sum, you are no grump! Christmas isn't my thing either, I will see if the family want a meal here, all together, if not, no problem for me. My friend next door received a "spicy" advent calendar from her D's the other week, very nice, but, just too early!!

Sum1, good for you. I'm getting to the stage where I dread the Christmas rush. There are far too many expectations on us and most families have difficult choices to make whether it's who hosts, where or whatever. I'd love to get back to a simpler Christmas rather than the crazy commercialisation that takes over our lives.

Avignon will be lovely - I'm sure the Cathedral and Les Palais des Papes will be extra beautiful for Christmas.

I think whatever makes you happy there are no rules around Christmas.
We as a family absolutely love Christmas ,
The past two years have been even better no rushing around trying to find gifts for everyone, we have done a secret Santa and spend no more than £20 on that person so it's taken the stress out of shopping.

We all go to DD we provide the meat SILs parents provide the veg snd wine .
DD loves Christmas day , a few years ago we did say if they wanted to do something else we didn't mind staying home.
My god you would think we had suggested murdering someone , we got a right telling off 😂 Her and SIL wont even considering booking Christmas lunch out .

Another Grump here! I would be happy with a children’s performance at school and a Carol service. At least I don’t have the worry of gifts. We are still doing our £5 in a charity shop gift or make something. (Not for the children of course). Just glad I don’t have to do the cooking anymore, so no booking delivery slots to worry about, only the Costco rush for the turkey which is our contribution.
Having said all that, we are going to visit friends the week before and taking the wherewithal for a Christmas feast, but just for the four of us.
                  Thank goodness for freezers.

I think everyone should do as they please for Christmas.
I have had the email from Asda about Christmas delivery slots, but i don't think i need one.
On Saturday we are going to the farm shop, hoping to get our meat then and freeze it.
We have bought Tommie's presents. As for the sons and grandaughters we think they will appreciate money more than a present.
Bought them all a tub of roses chocolates, will probably get them all some smellies, for something to open.

No mention of Christmas in our house yet, I know I will be here. I still buy all the adults, GC and GGC presents.
