    Did you see .....

Did you all watch the news and see the mess the people on the beach left ?
how disgusting can people be ,
Leaving all that rubbish for someone else to clean up boils my blood

They carry it there why can't they pack it up and carry it back ?

I really think the beaches should be closed apart from the mess no one was bothered that this virus is not over with yet .
Some had traveled 3 hours to get there surely they could have gone somewhere near home

What gets me about the rubbish is these same people would be up in arms if it was outside their property,
You can't just blame it on the young ones either there were plenty of families there , now what example are they giving their children just leaving it all where they sat .

What these selfish people don't think of is if there is another peak in this virus the likes of us who are still shielded will never get out at this rate . Same in Liverpool two nights of partying , I know they excited and I can understand that but we not out of this pandemic yet .

Sometimes I despair of people's common sense I really do.

Makes me so angry too Oma. I think they should have closed the beaches. Who in their right mind wants to travel 3 hours in that heat to sit on some sand with millions of other, possibly contagious, people. As for the rubbish, well!!!

      Disgusting leaving all that rubbish.
As for spending time on a crowded beach, with what we are going through, words fail me.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

There are a few things Iam finding hard to understand in all this .

Why travel by car in the extreme heat to a destination far from where you live. And when they do arrive at their destination why are they angry or even surprised that there are traffic congestions and all car parks are full.
They even have the nerve to complain about the amount of people there. Clearly they haven't realised that stupidity isn't just a default setting that only effects a small minority.
Also why have they then go on to use the beaches as toilets.
A spokesman from Bournemouth said public toilets were open . Obviously they didn't want to risk not being able to social distance there but quite happy to wander pass lots of people as they went in and out of the sea.

Unfortunately it's not only coastal places that are being abused like this . Our beautiful Why Valley has also suffered like this. It makes me so angry

It is disgusting and saddening. Surely everyone should be pulling together and want the same thing? Why would anyone leave their rubbish at any time, and now is even worse, with the virus risks? Others should not have to dispose of their leftovers.

If you have a car you are lucky enough to be able to choose where you go. If roads look crowded, don't go that way. If the beach you planned to visit is crowded, drive off and find a more remote one, or just a quiet spot anywhere.
My DDs and their friends have all taken their children to beaches over the last weeks. Always to quiet ones, and went early to leave before the afternoon crowds arrived (and of course took everything away with them!) It can be done.

I have never understood the litter thing, I was always told, take your litter home with you, I told the children and grandchildren the same. I was reading a remark where someone had said that they pay their council taxes so the council are paid to tidy up after them! If we all thought that it would be even more of a mess. We have problems here at the moment with the underground rubbish containers, with everyone tidying their houses they are dumping far too much in them and they are soon full, then people leave everything next to the container instead of taking it back home and waiting for them to be emptied, it is not like that in our street but ones on rubbish parks are disgracful.

As for going to packed beaches, even sitting for 3 hours in a car to get there, unbelievable. I was never one for packed beaches, we don't live far from the coast really but Scheveningen gets far too busy for me. We have lakes in the area, one just up the road from here, a lot of people go there instead of to the beach. It has just been fully opened after the strict rules, busy as well on hot days.

I like to go to the beach to walk along the prom but I'm not one for sitting on the beach , nice for the children but as Gem said you take them before it's too busy and the beaches are big enough to go that little further on to find a quieter spot .
It easy enough to take a bag to collect your rubbish and take it home but half of these pigs would be the type to throw it out of their car windows onto the side of the road

I don’t think closing the beaches is a good idea. Why should these people spoil it for the rest of us? I only go beach combing but I would be furious not to be able to do that! There are also families who live in flats. Why should they be denied access to the beach? Some people are disgusting in their habits, but not all! I must say we are lucky here, Southend council is on the ball regarding clearing up, etc.
I drove along the seafront on Thursday morning and the queues for the loos were orderly and spaced, with two attendants overseeing.
On the other hand, my friend Eric had a very entertaining day at his beach hut, he said he was overwhelmed by the amount of bare flesh on display! 😂

Quite right Grauntie, closing the beaches is unfair to you, me, my DDs and GDs and all the other people who use them wisely and cautiously.

The crazy thing is that not a stone's throw from Bournemouth's 7 miles of beach (yep, 7 miles!) are other beaches - lots of them. A friend of mine took her DD for a walk on Thursday night - they went to one of our nearest beaches and they were the only ones there, no rubbish, beautiful and so peaceful.

Our neighbours rent a beach hut for the summer (from Dorset CC, not Bournemouth) and they have been going during the nice weather. Everyone has behaved, social distancing has worked, and they and their sons have had a wonderful time. There are some sensible people about.

A lot of people have travelled to Bournemouth from Birmingham and other midlands cities because it's the easiest place to get to - virtually all motorways. They'd probably usually go to the north Wales coast resorts - Rhyl, Colwyn Bay, Llandudno etc, but they're all still closed and you can only travel 5 miles in Wales.

I can understand people wanting to 'see the sea' get some fresh air and relax, but probably the only thing they achieved was to see the sea! The Council and volunteers picked up 55 tons of rubbish from Bournemouth beach on Thursday - I really can't understand the mentality of some people. If the Council didn't clear up the mess the very same people would be complaining about it!

This is what a friend of mine placed on his Facebook page, well worded!

                      In the Teeth of it!

On Friday when the beaches were heaving with people, and all ‘common sense’, virus protection measures were ignored, I experienced the extreme opposite when I had to have a dental procedure.
On arrival at the dentists, patients are asked to wait outside the building wearing a facemask, and then phone the reception. When you are invited in, your temperature is taken and hands sanitised. The mask stays on until the dentist is ready to begin. Both dentist and dental nurse wore full PPE including a visor. As well as the usual goggles that have to be worn by the patient, a thin plastic cover sheet is pressed in place in the mouth over all but the tooth that is to be worked on.
When the procedure was over, you are quickly escorted out to reception, and the dental surgery is sealed and steam-cleaned, and not used for an hour, before the next patient is seen.
Contrast this with the nonsense on the British beaches, and it would seem a second wave is not only likely, but part of the infamous ‘plan’. The next phase of course is local Lockdowns wherever the second wave kicks off.
I never thought it possible - but a day at the dentist is preferable to a day at the seaside!!

A report in the paper of a man who was interviewed and asked why he was on the beach and not observing the distance rule, he replied well I don't know anyone who has had the virus. Well he might now if someone next to him on the beach was infected. How can you deal with that sort of mentality.

Lizzie - today Leicester has been put into local lockdown (ie they have to wait another 2 weeks for the changes due to happen in the rest of England on Saturday) - because there has been an increase in reported cases.

I am glad to say our cases are really low where I live.
