    Flower delivery chaos

My youngest daughter, at present in Canada, sent flowers for her grandmother's 90th birthday last week. She posted a card which arrived in plenty of time, and arranged for the flowers to arrive on my mum's birthday.
She gave the phone number (Mum almost never hears the door, people have to ring to let her know they are at the door!) and asked that they be left with neighbours if there was no answer.
Mum found a card saying they had tried to deliver and would come back the next day. No phone call, no attempt to leave with any neighbours. Delivering the next day would have had the same result, so as she was able to change the address, but nothing else, DD changed it to DD2 and OH's office for the next day. No flowers that day, and when DD3 got in touch with them later, being on Canadian time, they said the address was incomplete so they couldn't deliver. It wasn't incomplete. DD was very very frustrated and upset. She ordered them in Canada, and for some unknown reason they chose a florist in Gateshead, nowhere near here! Eventually on Day 3 they arrived at the office and SIL took them round for mum. 3 days late for a special birthday and lots of hassle for DD isn't good enough. SIL took photos, and although they are indeed a beautiful bouquet, they had started to look a little jaded, and when I saw them a couple of days later they were past their best. I hope DD pursues this and gets some compensation.
If only she had just asked one of us to sort it and paid us! There is a lovely florist in our village and of course many in York!

Gem - that's so disappointing and frustrating for you, your DDs and also for your Mum. I think a strong complaint is in order.

I once sent flowers to one of my SILs for a special birthday and was surprised she didn't ring to say they'd arrived. Well, they had arrived and been left on the doorstep. What a pity none of us knew her OH had taken her for a surprise 4 day trip to Paris, and that the neighbour who was supposed to be watering pots, picking up the post and keeping an eye on the house didn't notice!

    Let us know what happens.

We sent flowers to B's Aunty in Germany last year , they lasted 3 days . His Aunt isn't one to take any rubbish from people so she went to the shop that deals with Interflora who we sent them through and demanded a new bouquet. She got them and some Chocolates as a apology , As she said we had spent good money on them and they should have lasted longer than 3 days ,

I've never really heard any praise for Interflora.
We had relatives that lived in Kent, and if she wanted to send flowers to Mam and Dad,she always rang me,and i sorted it a florist we always use.
Gem,hope your daughter pursues with the complaint.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

It would have been better in hindsight to let you do it Gem but hindsight is a wonderful thing, I remember Jane Jackson sending me flowers when the twins were born we had a bond with the twin thing still do , we chat regularly anyway I digress , they weren’t good from Waitrose, I didn’t know whether to tell her or let it go, but anyway she asked for a photo so she could see them so has to tell her they were not the best and sent her a pic, lo and behold a beautiful hanging basket arrived from Waitrose , but it’s a shame you have to go to that trouble isn’t it

It is my sisters 90th tomorrow and I have ordered some flowers to be delivered, I hope they will be okay. I will ask her in view of the previous posts.

I have read some rather suspect reports about Interflora and the quality of their bouquets on arrival, the best flowers I have ever sent where from M&S I could not fault them but I have had comments from friends that M&S flowers have been disappointing so I think maybe if you can go in person and pick them prior to delivery though this may not always be possible.
