We have just had the final survey done for our new wardrobes. Configuration has changed a little and not too happy with having to take the bed down. It is a big bedroom and we thought the original person had said we could push it back to the other side of the room and stand the mattress on the side but this guy said the bedroom has to be clear. It is probably going to be a day and a half fit so we will be sleeping on the mattress in the sitting room because the smaller bedroom will be full of our other stuff. Oh well it will be worth it in the end. We have so little storage space and we found when we had the kitchen put in (finally) that there was a lot more space than we thought and, in fact, some cupboards are still unused.

Next week we we are having new doors on the bedrooms and bathroom and a new cupboard in the hall which currently has a free standing shelf unit in which, with all the work we have had done, has turned into a big wine rack and bit of a rubbish tip including a lot of work documents which I really do not think I will need again so I need to go through it all. I did suggest abandoning the new doors in view of the possible redundancy news but husband thinks it is better to continue.

In January we will have the hall and our room decorated. The new chest of drawers for the bedroom turned up today. Havent unpackaged it. Husband thinks we shiuld leave it until wardrobes are in although I favour having a look to make sure all is in order. Mr “Trust me I know what I am doing” says it will be fine. Mmmmm we will see, you all know he will have a flea right in his ear if I am right and he is wrong........

After all of that the last things will be the bedroom floors to be done and new blinds in our room. We are recycling the curtains from our sitting room as they were far more expensive than we really wanted them to be but the only pattern we really liked so might as well make use of them in the spare room.

Once it is all done, if I have any left, there will be a bottle bubbly opened. It was all supposed to be finished Easter this year so it will only be a year late!

Going to be quite a bit of work ZIZI, but it will all be worth it.

Open the box Zizi! When our lovely bedroom had been fitted I saw that the laminate wood pattern on the bottom two drawers was vertical and everything else was horizontal! The fitter and the husband didn’t notice! I had to wait ages for them to be replaced. Do it now.....

Zizi - it's a lot of work and a bid upheaval, but you will be so delighted when it's all finished. I agree with Oma - open the box, just in case.

Yes Zizi check the contents of the boxes. When we were in the house new doors arrived for the kitchen only to find that two of them were scratched!

It will look lovely when when it’s complete and remember do some before and after pictures, it’s nice to look back and know that all the upheaval was well and truly worth it.

In the end it will all be lovely Zizi and you will be glad you have done it!

As the others say, check in the box

We have new living room and dining room carpet coming on January 10th. I hate all upheaval, but like you. I will be happy once the lovely new carpet is down and things back in place!

We have just made arrangements for a new floor in the bedroom to be fitted the day after the wardrobes so two nights on the mattress! We ARE going to check the box after a conversation this morning. Fingers crossed all is well.

We decided on having a blind in the bedroom instead of curtains and got some samples from the Company got the sitting room blind from. As per usual we both immediately favoured the same pattern so we put the sizes in but they do not make one big enough in that pattern. Tried second choice. Nope that didnt work either. I will call the company tomorrow to find out which colours/patterns will fit the window. They are big windows but the sitting room one is bigger than the bedroom one so I don’t quite understand how they cannot make a blind to fit. Mind you I am no seamstress so there is probably a good reason hanging around there that I am ignorant about!

Zizi - it does seem a bit odd that they can make big blinds in one pattern, but not in another, unless if they are fabric it's to do with the maximum width the fabric is woven in??? Perhaps some of our clever needle women will know.

Most woolens, single and double knits, upholstery weight fabrics, and other heavier fabrics are either 45 or 54 inches wide. Many specialty fabrics are wider, 60 inches or more, and the fabrics used to make king size sheets and large tablecloths are up to 108 inches wide.2 Jan 2016

That might be the problem Zizi is having

Husband measured it in cms and I don’t know the conversion. Anyway it doesn’t matter I only wanted to get an idea of the price, we won’t be ordering until mid to end January when bedroom is finished.

Plant - I never thought about tablecloths! I'm looking for a new one for our dining room table - it sits 8 comfortably and it's quite hard to find a cloth to fit.
