    Clutter

Now I'm not one for clutter but I do tend to put stuff in cupboards I'm not sure what to do with ,
I have just spent quite a while sorting a cupboard I have on the landing and the Bathroom cabinet and I'm amazed how much rubbish I had ,
Half used Anti deodorant, tubes of cream ,hair grips, half bottles of shampoo , etc out of Cabinet ,
Then I tackled the cupboard , I keep my towels and spare toilet rolls in there but also have baskets on shelves , well it was a eye opener , Half bottles of mouth wash from when B was having Chemo, cotton wool balls I cant remember buying, 7 old tooth brushes I keep for scrubbing around tap and edges of the skirting etc , then found two pkts of 6 cheap tooth brushes I bought from the £ shop to do the job , 3 bars of Imperial leather soap again no idea when they were bought , A hair dye I knew I had one somewhere couldn't see it so bought another. DOG POO bags !!!!! why in the landing cupboard ? ? Then tucked down the back of one of the shelves Two white pillow cases still in their wrapper they had wedged themselves well and truly at the back , its not a huge cupboard its a free standing one I bought from Ikea but boy does it hold a lot of junk .

Nice and tidy now empty of all that stuff , I will ger myself up to sort the wardrobes and drawers in the spare room but it wont be today

Moving house is a great way to declutter, if a little extreme . When we downsized we got rid of so much stuff, it was quite refreshing, to be rid of so much unwanted, unused clutter. That was 4 years ago and now I have almost as much clutter as when I started out . I need to have a good sort out I think, when I can get motivated that is.

It most certainly does! We have moved twice in the last 3 1/2 years, wouldn't you think we would be clutter free? Not a bit. I have promised myself I will be ruthless this winter and chuck everything I haven't used or looked lovingly at since the last but one move.

I am addicted to those containers that have clip on lids, just looking for one in the cupboard and none of the lids fit the bases, where do they go? Must have a sort out.

I hate clutter too, although you wouldn't think so to look round our house! NO! NO! NO! don't look in any of the cupboards and drawers, I'll never get them closed again. This house used to belong to friends of ours (we bought it from the man who bought it from them) and one of the things I always loved about the house was the huge amount of built in cupboards, and couldn't understand why my friend was not clutter-free with all that storage!! Now I know!!! Clutter accumulates to fill the space available and then carries on accumulating everywhere it can!

My current stubborn bit of 'clutter' is our winter duvet. It's supposed to go in the airing cupboard in the summer but we've been using it in the caravan, so it hardly seemed worthwhile cramming it into the overflowing airing cupboard. It's camped on the landing, over the bannisters, served as a safety mat on bedroom floors when children were jumping from bed to bed, been an emergency bed for GS2 when he fell asleep after a midnight feast, a sneaky comfy spot for Eva to laze on, and soon no doubt it will be back on our bed. I really must clear the cupboard out before next Spring when we change back to a summer duvet.

Plant, how does that happen? When we moved here in March I sorted all storage boxes and ditched any without lids and lids without boxes. Somehow 6months later I have boxes without lids and lids without boxes yet again! How? Why? 🙄

It's fascinating when you find things like that, and makes you feel quite virtuous when you throw it all out

When I down sized four years ago I got rid of a shed load of clutter. Stuff that had been put away 'just in case' and had never seen the light of day since. But I have de-cluttered twice since moving to my bungalow, where it all comes from I don't know. I think the last time I did it was in the middle of the night when I couldn't sleep. Then it was all ready to either go to the tip or to the charity shop.

I love de-cluttering when I'm able. Boxes & bags for the charity shop. I opened the garage today (not a place I go in very often ... the car never) & there's loads of stuff that OH said he'd take to the charity shop & hasn't. The clutter I sorted has just moved places. I suppose that will be the next place to go on the de-clutter list.

I must be one of the few who garage their car, I have just had an electric door fitted as I find the up and over door difficult now. I do have stuff around the edges but try to keep the rubbish out.
