    Trends

Do you follow trends when decorating your home or choosing soft furnishings etc,

We were talking about this to DD yesterday ,
    Neither her or ourselves do,

I buy what I like , I'm not bothered if it's on trend ,Trends change so much anyway,

DD has a very eclectic taste, nothing matches she loves colour and although it certainly isn't my taste it works in her house,
She buys things I think OMG that's hideous but some how it looks good when she styles it,
I think it's the artist in her, luckily SIL goes along with it , he has had years to adapt ๐Ÿ˜

My style is totally different ,
I like clean lines no clutter and although we have gone for a soft green my actual style is cream and gold , but I compromise as long as it's not bold colours.

Bs Brother Martin on the other hand follow all the latest trends colours and styles.
It must cost a fortune constantly changing with each one.

If we all had the same taste it would be a boring world wouldn't it .

Oma, I like plain and simple!!! My suite is ? years old, will go for years yet, I see on-line that they are being sold for ridiculous prices!! I have told my sons that for when I go, I doubt if they will listen.!

I like creams and earth colours, I have never gone with a trend, neither of DS's do either. I did the one wall with red wallpaper 6 years ago and still like it.

DIL1 is busy decorating, when they are at home that is, she said there are so many shades of white to choose from it is difficult to find the one they originally used!

We moved around a lot in the earlier years of marriage, so never really had time or money to make our homes personalised. We'd paint over the worst colour choices and use the furniture we already had in the best way we could. So following trends wasn't an option.

I get bored with colours, furniture etc but don't want to spend our lives redoing what is basically ok. I like light colours but occasionally go mad and do something drastic, like the one wall in the dining room we painted a deep raspberry colour. The other walls are white. But we have a highly patterned Chinese rug OH loves in there and I felt it needed something to distract from it!

That rug is beautiful Daisy ,
        I can't remember the raspberry wall though๐Ÿ™„

I think too much is put on silly trends ,
I'm a neutral person as well Lizzie ,
At the moment my wall in the sitting room is Navy and Gold ,
Very bold for me but I have lived with it a couple of years , but I like light and pastel shades ,
Almost all of my walls are white ,
I have had disasters with pale lemon and pink in the past ๐Ÿ˜

We don't follow trends. We decorate in our own choice of colours.
Our rooms are all in a shade of magnolia, what some people say is boring. But each room has an accent wall.
When we first got this house, every room was decorated in some shade of green.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Oma, I remember you saying you liked that rug. I loved it in our previous house in the village, where it was in a huge south-facing room where two walls were all glass. Our dining room here faces north and the light is different. It lost its appeal for me, but J still loves it! We probably painted the room since you saw it.

Nanto, it could drive you mad following trends, as well as being very expensive. There's nothing wrong with magnolia shades and the main thing is it's your home and sanctuary. When DS2 and DIL2 bought the house they now live in they painted it magnolia right through, but even though they've made some changes in the house, it's still magnolia. It works for them and is a restful backdrop to everything else in all the rooms. I don't think I could live with shades of green everywhere, despite light green soft furnishings in our living room. (The walls are very pale grey)

When we moved into this house being a new build it was all magnolia and I loved it ,
We kept it for years before we painted it white ,
I do think it's one of those restful neutral colours that everything goes with ,

My sister is a lover of flowered wallpaper,
Not my choice but looks lovely in her house ,
              She likes clutter unlike me
