    Clematis and other Climbers

As I mentioned in Chat, OH went off to the garden centre today with a carefully written list. On the list were two Clematis, Group 1 or 2 pruning, summer flowering.

He phoned from the garden centre describing the height, spread and colours and had found two he thought suitable. He told me the variety name of one but not the other. What could possibly go wrong!

Well, plenty could go wrong. Neither of the plants was a Clematis!!! When I mentioned it he said "well, they were in the Climbers section". I pointed out there were other climbing plants beside clematis. One was clearly marked Honeysuckle and the other is a Chilean Potato plant!!

Oh I can't help but laugh Daisy!!

Good excuse for a trip to the garden centre when you are up to it, and a clematis to add to your climbers!

There is a place in the back garden where I can put the honeysuckle - it's quite an attractive one. But the other to me looks like a weed you'd find on an allotment. Limp plain green leaves and flowers that look like potato plant flowers, or deadly nightshade!

          Oma, yes he tried!

Gem, we wanted to get these plants in over the week-end. It's for part of our little memory garden and will hopefully screen a badly pruned tree in a neighbour's garden. I might have to persuade him to go back and try again!

Oh dear? I expected your oh Daisy was a gardener like you. If you feel up to it I think you should go with him next time or give him a picture.

Plant, my OH is trying hard to help, because he knows I can't do the garden at the moment, but it's definitely not his thing! My basic mistake was thinking he knew that clematis were not the only climbing plants. He knows now, bless him.

Sorry Daisy, but I am having a good laugh! He would be company for my OH who thinks everything is a hydrangea.

Grauntie, what a pair our OHs would make! My OH thinks if a plant hasn't got flowers on it, it's dead.

😂😂😂 Given the chance, OH would be happy with some nice concrete he could give a brush down every now and again!

Grauntie, my OH is exactly the same. What on earth can we do with them!

My OH was an amazing veg. Grower and when we took over this place of three quarters of an acre, he was so excited to get started. The previous owners had a gardener and they had an amazing veg.garden which my OH was so pleased to acquire. He was also a bee keeper so lots of honey.

Plant, that's a big garden. I bet you hardly ever bought vegetables. Honey from your very own bees as well - how lovely that must have been.
