    Cutting corners

This afternoon bringing in the washing from the line I did what I always do. Set aside anything which I feel doesn't need ironing and hang it up, and fold everything else so there are minimal creases to iron out. I always do this but notice OH (who actually does our ironing!) doesn't always do this.

I always put anything not for the dishwasher which I will wash up later, in to soak. My mum did this and so do I. OH does this sometimes but only because I suggest it! It could be because I am lazy so make things easier for myself in any way I can.

What corning cutting/labour saving method do you have?

Gem, I do exactly the same - do work to save work, I call it!

We use a teapot for tea and when I empty any dregs into the sink I always rinse the teapot out, and then make sure the sink is rinsed as well. I'd love my OH to do the same! He wipes any drips on the dishcloth, which I then feel the need to put in the wash because of the tea stains on it!

A funny one really. Eva's raw meat comes in 1 kg plastic containers (like you'd get mince or tomatoes or grapes in in the supermarket). When I've emptied a contained I give it to her to lick clean, then just give it a quick rinse in the utility room before putting it in the bin. She does a much better job than I would!!

    I'm sure I've got lots more - I'll have a think.

I'm sure i cut corners somewhere, but they don't spring to mind at the moment.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

In common with at least a couple of others on here I like to cook enough for 2 meals when at all possible. Providing a healthier, cheaper version of a ready meal, and an easy cooking night down the line

I don't very often double quantities for the freezer, but if I've got leftovers from having visitors I freeze them for another day. I had enough for two portions of the chicken dish I did on Thursday left and they are in the freezer now. We used up the veggies the next day.

Gem, I'm sure I've got lots more ways I cut corners - I'll have a think.

Gem, I can remember my mother always rolled all the items up that needed ironing, she said then they were easier to iron.

Lizzie, I always roll up my 'scruffy' t-shirts. The ones I use for gardening, painting etc. I have to say they don't look any more creased than the ones I iron and carefully fold!

I iron everything apart from I have stopped ironing the T-towels and dusters,
Took me a while to not give into the urge to take them out of the draw and iron them though.
I don’t use drawers for anything apart from underwear and PJs ,
I hang everything even T-shirts and woollens.

I can’t think of any short cuts off hand I will have to think about that 😁
Im not fat just 6ft too small

Oma, no one would expect you to employ any shortcuts

If I'm dusting upstairs I walk up the stairs with a feather duster trailing on the skirting board on the wall side of the stairs and going down I do the same on the bannister side.

Little GS3 loves dusting. We take a feather duster each and dust things
He often dusts the carpet so I'm not sure this counts as labour saving!

Gem, we have got mainly hard floors, so please may I borrow him. I will find him the biggest, fluffiest feather duster in the world and he'll have a great time!
