    Door notices

Do you have a sign or notice by your front door saying that you don't buy at the doorstep?

We did have one for a couple of years, which I made on the computer and a friend laminated, but it eventually gave up the ghost.
I have today ordered one online which may last a little longer.
There are some quite rude ones saying We don't buy Go away and never come back and the like. I'm not aiming for that sort of thing. The one I ordered says Polite Notice and that we don't buy at the door and don't want cold callers, religious groups etc.

I am hoping it works, as we don't buy at the door, apart from Ringtons, who have permission to come

We did have one, very similar to the one you describe.
I thought i'll take a photo and show you ours.
It's not there now. So don't know what has happened to it.
I'll ask hubby when he comes back,to see if he has taken it off.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

I think we had a Neighbourhood Watch notice saying something like 'no cold callers', but I think it's worn away now.

Strangely enough I answered the door today to a young man who asked if "that old caravan" was for sale. I was caught a bit off guard and said no, we're going away in it in a few days (silly thing to say!). Then I noticed there were 3 men and one of them went to our neighbours opposite who have their boat in the front garden. I managed to video two of them as they looked very suspicious.

We have these on the door had them years ,
I never get cold callers and very few charity bags these days or leaflet drops .
Apart from those who don’t read good English ,
we have one lovely young man who I tried to give his bag back and tell him no but he couldn’t understand me
He just kept smiling at me and nodding his head 😂

Yesterday afternoon I answered the door to a young man, who at first I took to be a delivery driver. He asked me something in such a strong Irish accent that I didn't quite catch it, so he repeated - "Did we want to sell that old caravan on our drive?" I felt a bit offended that he should describe our caravan as old, although it is, and replied rather indignantly that "no, we're going away in it in a few days". Afterwards I thought I shouldn't have advertised our forthcoming absence. There were two other men across the road, one in the same t-shirt the other in a dark shirt with something written on the back. One walked away and one went to our neighbour's door (they have a RIB sitting on their drive). There was no answer, and the two men stood looking for a while and then the one I'd spoken to started picking up gravel from the drive and throwing it against the wall, then they walked off. I managed to take a photo and video some of it, but it left me wondering were they just looking for scrap or were they 'casing the joints'.

Perhaps we need a new "No callers" notice!

Daisy, did Eva bark? I used to feel happier when we had a dog, she was often loose in the garden. They catch you off guard. We used to have a Jack Russell cross and if someone came in the gates they didn’t get out easily if she was loose. We back onto woodland and she patrolled that too but she wasn’t a very friendly dog to us and the family. You know Daisy I think I would report the callers to the police, they might keep a look out. Do you have a gypsy gathering close by?

Plant - Eva's bark would scare the devil himself!

While we were away there was quite a lot of anti-social behaviour in the village, but I'm not quite sure what or who was involved. With the Bank holiday looming there are a lot of strangers about. Our local WhatsApp group is very good at communicating any suspicious people or activities.
