    Home-made wooden planters

Our new neighbours were going to throw out the old decking wood they were replacing with a patio. Knowing my OH does a lot of DIY they asked if he could use it for anything. So OH said 'yes' and he's made two wooden planters for DS2 and one long one for the neighbour.

Today we took DS2's over to his house and planted them up with tomatoes, and runner and French beans. The hardest thing was getting them level on uneven ground, but DIL found some odd bricks lying around and they used them.

GD1 and I filled the planters up with soil and then put in the plants.

We were all quite pleased with our morning's work, but I forgot to take a photo!

Several years ago B made me 5 Hexagon wood planters in different sizes and I painted them Blue ,
We got rid this year and put boarders in with sleepers but passed the planters on ,
They lasted a lot longer than shop bought ones that's for sure ,
Next time your at DS you must take some pics especially if all the produce are growing it would be nice to see
Im not fat just 6ft too small

Daisy, i bet they look very good. Being homemade makes them somewhat more special.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

DS2 had been looking at something similar, but not as sturdy, online and they were over £200 each, so I think OH was very pleased with his efforts. It's a standing joke in our family that OH always over-engineers things he makes and the planters he made for me over 10 years ago are still going strong!

I just hope the plants do as well! LOL

They sound really good Daisy. Your OH is very talented.
I am always forgetting to take photos of things!
We will soon be making a decked area in our back garden using left over wood from DD1's. I will report on progress, with photos!

Well done Mr Daisy. I don’t need any planters but I have a few jobs that need sorting when you are in the area.
