    Selling crops!

This week OH has left a table out at the front of the house with a tray of little grown-from-seed tomato plants on it, and an honesty box. She charged 50 pence per plant. She has Shirley and cherry tomatoes. She has sold a lot over two days. The buyers save on garden centre prices, and OH has made the money back which she spent on seeds

We still have plenty of plants for our own needs.

Hubby had alot of tomato plants this year. Some he bought and some he's grown from seed.
He has given quite a few away,to get them out of his way.
Its good that OH has made her seed money back.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

We have given some away too Nan2. OH has sold them like this before and they have proved popular A lot of families pass by to and from school so I think some of the parents buy them.
Now she is back from golf there is another tray full out there!

Gem, I think that's a great idea. A packet of seeds doesn't cost much - but some tomato varieties only have 5 or 10 seeds in them, plus the cost of seed compost and anything else you may add to help them thrive.

From the buyer's point of view, it's lovely to have plants so obviously grown locally and with care and pride.

Aggie - well done on saving seed. I've never had any success, but I'm sure I remember Enfys growing something from seed she had saved.

Did you find out what the variety was?
