Plant - are you planning to make gallons of Sloe Gin already!

Enfys - cherry blossom is so beautiful. There was a short item about Japan on the tv a couple of days ago. I think it was to do with Covid restrictions during the cherry blossom season there, but I was far too busy looking at the trees to listen to what they were talking about. Stunning - something I'd love to see one year.

OH travelled regularly to Japan when he was working and he says they broadcast where the cherry trees were in blossom and people would travel to see them. They held picnics and parties under the trees. he tells me it was a beautiful sight to see.

Our fruit trees have buds on them, but I think they'll need a bit more warmth before there's any blossom on them. Sad to think I won't be picking any fruit from them this year! Buds also on the wisteria which I planted last year and had almost given up on, but it's still there.

We have lots of hyacinths in the bed in the middle of our courtyard and their perfume is wonderful. I remember going to Keukenhof when it was the hyacinth time and the perfume was almost overwhelming.

WeeGranny - it's surprising how many of our memories are related to flowers and trees isn't it. Sadly this year the picnics under the trees have been banned and the areas cordoned off. The news showed people still walking along admiring the blossom, but it obviously wasn't the same.

Hopefully you will be able to take a few bulbs or plants from your current garden to your new one.

Many years ago when my in-laws were retiring and moving from the vicarage my MIL let me dig up a peony. She was very doubtful about it surviving and it was riddled with ground elder. I washed off every scrap of soil and GE root and planted it in our garden on the Wirral. It grew and flowered and thrived (much to our joint surprise). I took it with me every time we moved and it still keeps coming up. So it's always worth having a go at moving something special.

We have lots of Daffodils still in bloom along the road sides here and Crocus ,
All the trees are budding and the birds are making nests ,

We have bought several plants for our new boarders , Im trying to go for hardy mound forming ones that will eventually cover the bottom boarder where it doesnt get much sun ,
I have bought a few Alpines that are suitable and they are flowering so come next spring we should have some nice colour in that boarder ,

Its starting to feel like we are coming out of the winter months isn't it
Im not fat just 6ft too small

The view from our front windows is heaven at this time of year.
From our bedroom and living room windows we can see the pink blossom on the tree on our front garden and the same on the two trees on the little green. The man opposite, a keen gardener, has a long sweeping front border as he is on a corner. There must be hundreds of bright daffodils there. I appreciate all of this so much every year, as it is a short period of time, but gorgeous to see.

              Sounds beautiful Gemini.

Daisy, no I don't make Sloe gin but love to see the blackthorn flowering in the lanes.

Plant - I like to see blackthorn in flower as well.

Gem, you paint a beautiful picture - how amazing to look out on such a glorious spring show.

Today I found my Spring mojo. I did housework all morning, and then really needed to get outside. The sun was shining but it was cold so I decided to get started in the greenhouse. I'd cleaned my big propagator a few days ago and switched it on, so it was nice and warm just waiting for some seeds. I sowed two varieties of tomatoes, some French marigold and 3 pots of dwarf French beans. I meant to sow runner beans but picked the wrong packet up. I'll do those in a day or two when the weather's due to be warmer. Then I sowed a trayful of salad leaves - the cut and come again ones. I really must clean the greenhouse glass though. It's rather grubby at the moment.
