How do you dry your washing during winter?

I love the smell of washing that has been dried out side in the summer .
I have a tumble dryer that I only use if I really have too , the cost of electricity to run it is eye watering. I did have an electrical clothes airer ( from Lakdeland ) but I wasn't especially impressed with it . The washing didn't dry any faster than having an ordinary clothes airer next to a radiator.

I put the towels out on the line this morning because there was quite a wind, but the haven't dried much so they're finishing off in the tumble drier.

I have a Hills Hoist which I brought back from Australia. No self respecting Australian house would be without one in the back yard! It's only what we call a whirligig!! But it is strong and sturdy and makes me think of my back garden in Australia.

I don't always use the tumble drier, instead clothes go on the clothes horse which usually sits on the landing where it gets the warm air from downstairs.

How on earth did you get a Hills Hoist back from Australia WG. We used to have a Hills Hoist years ago, not from Australia though.
