Is it a Dog Rose or Dog Violet or perhaps Dog Grass ? ( These are real plants but I admit I had to look the last two up )

Mimi - I think he's been identified as a Greater bronzed Dog Weed! Yes, he is gorgeous. Big, silly and totally loveable. 
Gem - they spread all over the place if they're not carefully controlled.
