    Curtains

As I have said I have been Decorating through downstairs and I thought I may buy new curtains .

I spent quite a while tonight trawling the internet looking at curtains and I didn't find any I like better than the ones I have up already .

I looked at ready made and made to order but nothing jumped out at me .

B said do we need new curtains ? Well no not really I just thought it would be nice to have a change .
It's the same with our Bedroom curtains . I like them but they not the best quality and I have never been happy with how they hang ,
The lining seems to pull the edge a bit making it look a bit wobbly edged on one curtain .

Even if I did find any online I like I'm reluctant to buy as you don't know the quality when you can't feel it can you so I think I will have to wait till I can go out again .

Even if I don't buy any for the living room I will certainly be changing my bedroom ones .
Do curtain shops on line send samples these days do you think ? That way maybe I would buy on line but I'm not sure if they do that now

So frustrating not getting out but B had a point tonight he said well in a way you may be saving money as by time we can shop again I may have changed my mind and I won't be spur of the moment buying .

I would think they may send curtain fabric samples, worth asking I suppose?

Oma, i'm so fussy when when buying curtains.
I never buy lined curtains. When i have seen other peoples curtains, lined ones always look wobbly on the edges.

Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

I don't like change, so I when I last bought curtains, they were made to measure from JL, no wobbly edges. I think too that they hang better if on rings.

I am a very plain person regarding curtains etc, regarding everything! I have always made my own curtains and blinds. A lot of work though. I have those in my bedroom that don't let the light through, heavy to make but hang really well. Thinking back, we did have colourful curtains once in our bedroom, many years ago.

Once new curtains are up, I tend not to notice them. It's quite a bid decision to change them and always seems a lot of hassle.

My DS2 and DIL bought new curtains for their living and dining rooms and they didn't quite hang right, and needing shortening slightly. DIL's mum is a super-sower, so she has unpicked and shortened them and they look great now. I wouldn't know where to start. Oma- you've seen our bathroom curtains, so you know what I mean!!

                    You are lovely, Oma!

Oma's being very kind! The curtains were too long, and need shortening. My very neglected sewing machine needs fixing, so I quickly tacked them up by hand - the hem must be about 8 inches!! I still haven't got round to taking them down and shortening them properly.

I am told by people who make curtains that you should shorten them at the top, never tried it. I have made curtain in the past but they were not very professional.

I hate making or altering curtains. When we moved here I had slatted or vertical blinds fitted everywhere but the sitting room. I had curtains made and hated them from the minute they were hung! They are now in a bag in the loft. 😬 I was not popular. At least the blinds are easily cleaned by me and I don’t have a dry cleaning bill.

Plant - when we moved around a lot I used to make curtains - usually for the bedrooms. They were never professional-looking but we moved often enough so I didn't get too irritated by them. I think that's how I learned to ignore them once they're up!
