    How Often ?

Just going on from Gemini's post re hanging out washing I thought I'd ask you how often you wash some of your bigger items,ie: denim jeans/jumpers/cardigans/etc.
I tend to rehang my jeans/trousers and jeggings until I have worn them 3/4 times I dont stay fully dressed all day and when I come home from shops etc change into either PJ bottoms & t-shirt or track suit type thingy all for comfort.
I have to wash through blouses etc every time as I am not very careful when wearing foundation and end up with it around collars and neckline.

I never hang anything back in the wardrobe that I have worn, even for a short time, because I wouldn’t remember how long, or how many times I have worn it previously. The only exception to this is coats or jackets that get dry cleaned. (I have a separate wardrobe for those.) I have a hanging rail in my dressing room that I use for clothes that aren’t dirty but aren’t quite clean. I leave clothes there until I want to wear them again. This does mean I probably do more washing than I really need to, but I have a short wash cycle on my machine that I use a lot.

Glam - I read an article about washing (or not washing) clothes recently, and the designer Stella McCartney said we all wash things too often! She says expensive bespoke tailors etc recommend hanging things like jeans and brushing them instead of washing them. She also said she wore bras 4 or 5 times before washing them - gently by hand.

I was a bit shocked to be honest!

If i have worn something for just a few hours, i will hang it back up.
I couldn't wear a bra for 4/5 days though. I like clean one every day.
Bras go in the washer, always been ok for me.
I put them in a net washing bag,so they don't get tangled in other items.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

I wear Jean's 2 or 3 times before washing, tops get changed everyday same as undies. Skirts get put back in the wardrobe as well until I have worn them a few times. That's unless I have been a mucky pup which quite often happens when I spill something down myself. I am always saying we seem to always have washing on the go. My sister when I told her how much I iron said I need to get a life 🤣🤣

LibraG I can gaurentee that every time I have Spag Bol it ends up down my front it was a family tradition that every time mum wears that white top she will spill something over it !!,I always change and wash undies every day and wash in a net bag along with my white trainer socks.

Glamma, spag bol is one of the things I will never order in a restaurant, due to the mess factor 😁

In common with you and others I re wear jeans and trousers 3 or 4 times before washing, unless they are muddy or I spill anything on them
The exception being my white linen trousers which need to go in the wash after each wearing.

Trousers I will wear two days in a row unless they are white ,
Tops you can guarantee I will spill something down , its very rare I get the chance to wear them twice ,
underwear changed every day except my Bra I get a couple of days from them , I tend to change them depending on the colour top im wearing , obviously cant wear a Black Bra under a light top
Dresses again two days depending how sloppy I have been

I don't order Spag bog either Gem as B told you how messy I am with anything like that hahaha and Beans or Peas

Daisy I saw that Stella McCartney statement but what got me is they must smell especially if personal hygiene isn't too good yuk

Oma - that's what I thought about the Stella McCartney statement. Even with good personal hygiene they would still be a bit stale, wouldn't they! Yuk

Why would you wear a bra so many times between washes??! Even without all her money which means she could have many, many bras, washing them isn't exactly hard work - by machine or a dip in the sink!

Gem - I think SMcC's point was that frequent washing wears the fabrics out more quickly, and I suppose she's talking high-end undies with beautiful lace etc, not my bog-standard M&S white cotton ones! She was making a point about sustainability in the fashion industry and that clothes which are treated 'properly' by her advice would last and look good for much longer. I still can't see it myself, I like to know things are clean!

I can’t see the sense in coming out of the shower in the morning and putting on stale clothes. Modern washing machines etc make it so easy to have a fresh supply of clothes.
