    Lavender and snails

Today my client told me he had read that snails dislike lavender. Planting lavender next to plants which snails love protects the plants, so the article said.
We have lots of garden snails so will try this.
We have a lavender plant but it is in the front of the house. We need a few for the back garden.

    Has anyone else heard this?

Gem - how interesting. No I haven't heard it, but I think the whole idea of companion planting is very interesting. It's something I'd like to learn more about.

Would it work if you put sprigs of lavender around plants I wonder.

I've been told that lavender keeps the aphids away from roses.

I haven't heard of this Gem. We have lavender, but its at the bottom of the garden.
We like lavendar, but don't really want any elsewhere in the garden.

I've got lavender by the front door - a nice sunny spot. I'd love to grow hostas in another part of the garden though, but they get gobbled up by slugs, so if I could get lavender to grow there as well it would be great.

I ‘ve got a hosta in a large pot so it’s only the one or two adventurous snails that make it up to it. It’s really done well this year.

I have a passion for lavender! This is my front hedge. I have more in the back garden! I didn’t know about snails not liking it though. If I need to protect a plant I put holly round it.

My DD1 has lots of beautiful lavender, in front and back gardens. Their front garden is small and the lavender bush big. It smells wonderful each time I brush past it to go to the door.
