    Growing tomatoes

Just or fun I grow tomatoes from slices of tomato planted in trays.I read about doing this somewhere and gave it a try last year.Because of the hot Summer I got loads of tomatoes grown outside .I’m trying again this year but need another warm, sunny Summer.Of course I don’t know what variety they are but as I said it’s just a bit of fun which might produce some fruit.Must get on and move them on to individual pots.

What a clever idea Clover! I do hope they take off again this summer 😊

Clover, hope you get lots of tomatoes.
Hubby grows tomatoes in the greenhouse. he buys his plants from an old chap he knows.
He used to grow his own from seeds, but doesn't bother now.
Doesn't like to leave them when we go away.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Clover - I've never heard of that, but when you think about it, if we left Nature to take its course the tomatoes would drop off the plants into the ground below and the seeds would germinate the following spring.

Yours look nice healthy little plants and any home grown variety will taste better than supermarket ones.

Not heard of this method before Clover. It sounds brilliant.
Did you know that when you plant them on, to bury them up to the first true leaves as the stems make more roots, thereby making strong plants?
I must plant mine this weekend. I only like Gardeners Delight so I will have to buy more seeds but I will use your method with the baby plum tomatoes.

It sounds as though we shall have a lot of GransRus tomatoes this summer.
We should set up a stall

Yes I just lie slices of tomato about a quarter of an inch thick on trays of compost and lightly cover.

                  GM thanks for that tip
