    Boiler trouble

For months we have had to put clothes under the boiler in the utility every night as come morning the work surface is soaking from a leak ,
Had at least 5 engineers out since November , none could find where it was coming from as by time they came out it had stopped .
Yesterday morning B took a video of it pouring out

This morning another engineer came out at 8 am and B showed him the video and he knew instantly what it was , took the boiler to bits and it was a 3
" square washer sponge type of thing that had perished and was allowing the steam to escape and condense into water when the heating went on ,
The area all around was quite rusty .
He worked on it for almost 3 hours and has just left so fingers crossed this has done the job ,
I asked why the others hadn't picked up on it he said they may not have seen it before or they haven't taken it that far apart when they came out or they knew it was a big job to get into it and didn't want to tackle it

We will see tomorrow if he's fixed it if we have no puddles

    Fingers crossed Oma!
Thank goodness B had the presence of mind to make that video.

That’s good news Oma hope it’s worked, what would we do without mobile phones that take videos !

Hope that has cured it Oma. I had my boiler serviced last week, I had forgotten to get it serviced for a few years, well probably only once since OH died, they used to send me a reminder but haven't done so. He gave it a very good clean and was here some time and the bill was £78 which I didn't think was bad.

Well done....B saves the day! Expensive call outs so I hear. We pay a monthly thing & they come to do a gas check every year which includes boiler, radiators, hot water cistern etc also the timer control panel. We've not had to replace the boiler since we moved in in 1995. They're doing their best to keep it going as long as possible.

Don't know about you Oma but I hate leaks. Glad it's sorted.

LOL, Oma - with all those new parts it must be like a spring chicken of the boiler world now. Fingers crossed it goes for many more years.
