    Gadgets!

Which are your favourite gadgets, and which were a waste of money and gather dust somewhere?

My three favourites are my steam cleaner, soup maker and bread maker.

The steam cleaner is used frequently especially in winter and wet weather. Three cats paddling in and out of the cat door make for lots of floor cleaning. It is quick and efficient and uses no chemicals at all.
My soup make is so easy. Chop ingredients add herbs, stock and anything else, top up with water. 22 minutes later 4 portions of delicious homemade soup.
I asked for my breadmaker as a birthday present a few years ago and used it constantly. However it has been gathering dust a bit recently. I made a not very successful loaf which we threw away a few months ago, and I couldn't work out why so that put me off, and we went back to buying our bread.
I intend to begin using it again however.

OH bought a big technical looking cake mixer thing, she was going to make cakes. I usually make any cakes we have, without the aid of cake mixer. She bought this 2 years ago and hadn't used it once. I notice if has now gone from the work surface, and as there is no room for it, is is back in it's box in the garage!

Waste of money was a pop corn maker used twice now in DD kitchen 😀 although we have lots of little stuff in cupboards that never see the light of day like silicon moulds etc
We have lots of gadgets that B just has to have when we go into Lakeland
mind you we did buy a double waffle maker that was worth its money , we like waffles and the kids love them and it's easy to use and wipe clean .

In the past i've had steamer, george foreman grill and breville sandwich toaster.
Also had 2 deep fat fryers, but haven't got one now.
Got rid of them all, as i didn't use them much.
I still have a food processor, but not used it for a long time.
I wouldn't be with out my slow cooker.
About a month ago i bought a new sandwich toaster and poched egg maker.

I have used the sandwich toaster its good.
Have yet to try the egg poacher.
Also toyed with the idea of getting an air fryer.
2family members have them. 1 says they are good, the other 1 isn't impressed.

I would hate to be without my microwave. I use the soup maker quite a bit and the steam cleaner. Breadmaker doesn't get used much, mainly for banana bread. My mini chopper I use a lot to chop the veg for the soup. Love my window gadget. Is an electric toothbrush a gadget?

I love my Karcher window vac as well.
Got a steam cleaner for the floors which i do use.
It doesn't have the same oomph as getting down on your hands and knees and scrubbing.

Chip fat fryer comes out on Boxing day as it's the only time we have home made fried chips. This is kept in the garage with the veg steamer & bread maker which I keep meaning to use. I like my iPod but don't use that much either.

If my mobile fone is a gadget then this is probably my favourite. Lifeline to my DD's etc & my daily game of solitaire & other puzzles. Makes it possible for me to 'chat' to all you Grans too. Not forgetting the valued camera part of it. I also refer to the calendar on there daily. I don't think I'm that much of a gadget person really.

My computer is the one gadget I wouldn't be without, but in the kitchen I constantly use the bread maker, and the Tassimo coffee machine. Other gadgets earn their keep, but aren't in daily use.

Nanto I threw my Steam mop out , it doesn't get right into the corners and edges enough for my liking and I think they just move the dirt around , floors look clean but if you take a wet cloth over them after you steamed them you find they still very dirty , so its back to the old way for me

Oma - I'm not getting on weel with the steam mop either. I still use it occasionally because it's relatively easy and our kitchen is big, but sometimes I just have to get into Bleach Babe mode and give it a good scrub. Otherwise it's Flash and plenty of hot water.

I don’t even have a computer any more Daisy. I just use my trusty iPad. I wouldn’t be without it. The microwave is in daily use, if only to do my porridge. How we ever managed without a washing machine, I don’t know.

Sunshine - when I was thinking about this question I never even thought about a washing machine. I suppose I take it totally for granted, but, you're right, I wouldn't like to go back to bashing the clothes on rocks in the river! The microwave is useful but I could live without it if I had to.

I like my iPad but I can type much faster on my computer and find it easier for things like email.

I lived for 7 months in a caravan with no running water with a baby. All clothes to be taken to the launderette, cooking on tiny calor gas cooker. I can live gadget free
