    Space Saving Beds

This topic was mentioned on Chat, but as at least two of us are thinking about changing our spare beds we're looking for advice and ideas!

At the moment I have two single beds in my study/GCs' bedroom. It's quite a large room in floor area but with sloping eaves there isn't much useable wall space. The beds stick out into the room, side by side on the only available wall.

So I thought beds that stack one under the other would be a good idea.

I've realised there's lots of choice - but some of them the lower bed is a bit smaller, some of them you can't leave the lower bed made up, and it's often hard to tell online if they even come with mattresses.

Has anybody got these beds and do you like them?

I had roll away beds in my spare room until recently, my DD has them now in one of their rooms. I know they were quite expensive at the time. They could also be zipped together to make one double bed. There was enough room under the top bed for it to be rolled away together with the mattress and I used to keep the bedding for both beds on the top bed.

Not had any of these beds,so can't offer any advice. Sorry.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Dilemma Daisy, we have four bedrooms and they all have double beds 😜 seemed a good idea at the time , I always thing DS Or Dd and OH’s may stop at some point, I think it’s inevitable that at some point all 3 g/c will stay so could be 3 in a bed , so I’m no help at all but I like the idea of a single bed with a pull out bed underneath , I can’t find a small chair never mind a bed lol

We don't have these. We have double bed in one spare room and sofa bed in the other (which doubles as my therapy room)
I think they are a good idea Daisy, but have no advice to offer!

Well, thanks for trying, ladies. It looks as though Oma and I will have to put in the leg work to get them sussed out.

Qwerty - are you looking for the sort of chair you might have in your living room, only smaller, or would an upholstered dining room type chair fit the bill? Or what about a pretty stool?

Daisy I have seen the beds you speak about but haven't ever purchased one. Hope you let us know how you get on. If I'm not mistaken I think Oma's favourite store Ikea has that style bed.

Nana - we looked at them in Oma's favourite store some time ago, but there wasn't much choice. But I think they're getting more popular so I shall try again!

Looking for a sitting room chair, dining chairs of which I have 6 wouldn’t be a problem but no arms means that someone sitting on such a straight back chair although upholstered would go home like Quasi Modo
