New Flooring

Just a few minutes after my last post, we hit another snag! The kicking board was a tiny bit too high so needed just a few mill off the length of it. There was no room in the garage for the carpenter to cut it and it was pouring with rain, so he couldn't do it outside. He's coming back to finish the job off tomorrow - provided it's not raining! Then, hopefully, that will be it - just painting to be done. Probably white again, then we're not tied to colour for curtains, towels, etc.

Plant - we're doing the hall etc two shades of grey. We're working our way through the house with grey - kitchen, living room, our bedroom, our ensuite are already various variations on grey. I made that about 42 to go!!!!

At last! The carpenter came and finished the bathroom this morning and I gave it a good clean (not quite Oma and Qwerty standard, but good-for-my-standards). So then we decided to have a quick sandwich and go into Southampton to Dunelm (I still want to add "Mill"). We got curtains, a few hand towels, a new bath mat and some very nice pot pourri, plus three new cushions for the living room, a long-handled duster that bends at right angles, a pack of microfibre cloths and a nice bushy short-handled feather duster. Two duster-things - eeeek!!

It was really hard to find curtains suitable for the bathroom and I presume it's because most people have blinds these days, or leave the windows bare. They're a sort of duck egg blue and a bit shiny so don't look too heavy, I hope!! It wasn't the colour I'd planned but it's an easy colour to get towels etc to go with it.

I'll take some photos when we've put the curtains up. I may have to shorten them a bit - what joy!

With being out all day today we haven't had chance to get the curtains up, but hopefully tomorrow we will!

Dunelm have not long hit the South so I have only ever known them as Dunelm.

Same as Sainsburys in our shopping centre , it used to be Sava centre ,everyone hear still call it saver

It's funny how some names stick. It was years before I realised Lakeland had dropped the 'Plastics' from their name!!

Oma - and you all understand what they mean when they say Sava!

The curtains can't go up yet - they're too long, so I'll have to shorten them. I just hope I can get them level and both the same!!! Sewing is so far down my list of 'can't do' that it fell off the end! But how hard can it be to chop a few inches off and make a new hem!

We haven't got a branch near enough for me to worry about the name! I think there's one in Poole, near where Libra used to live.
