OH has ordered a new basin, but had to get one already in a housing unit thingy. It arrives tomorrow and the plumber is coming to fit it on Monday. After that he's away for a week and by then we'll have the decorators doing the hall etc, so fingers crossed for Monday, or I don't think it will be done before Christmas - and we'll be having visitors queuing up for our en suite!

Perhaps your visitors will give you a hand with the decorating!

Sunshine - for the first time ever, we're paying someone to do it - I didn't fancy OH balancing precariously to paint the stairs, but I love the idea of getting the grand children to 'help' Can you just imagine it. Banksy eat your heart out.

The decorator says it will only take the two of them 3 days! I hope he's right.

I have arranged for my nephew to do some decorating for me (for a small fee!) He is going to do it while I am away on the cruise, so I don’t have to put up with the mess!
Good idea to keep your other half off the ladders. You don’t want to risk him breaking himself!

It's taken some persuading to get OH to agree to professional decorators! His grandfather was a painter, decorator and sign writer, and OH used to spend a lot of holidays with Taid learning the trade. So he is very good, but I worry about wobbly ladders these days, and I think it's much harder to get a really neat finish when you're older, and OH would be mortified if he 'missed a bit'!

We always get someone in to do the decorating now. its worth paying for,it gets done quicker.

Oma, I remember your flying trapeze act, and you were very lucky! I don’t think my OH would be so athletic ! 😀

Nanto, yes getting it done faster is a big attraction, too 😁

Haha - I hope so. At least it will be clean and look better than it does at the moment!

So almost a month on from the start of what has turned into the Great Bathroom Saga, the end is in sight! I hope!

The new basin is sitting neatly and securely on the housing, OH has done the extra tiling, and even found some matching grout, and today the carpenter is fitting the new panelling and cupboard doors which we've had to get made to measure. Once all that is done the toilet pan can be fastened on the the floor, then all that's left to do is repaint it, and give it a darned good clean. I've been looking online for curtains but haven't found anything I like yet, and we'll get a new shower curtain and towels.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed there are no more snags because the decorators start on the hall etc next Tuesday and that will cause a whole lot more upheaval.

It's a good job we don't put our Christmas decorations up at the beginning of December!
