    Garden Gnomes

Do you have any in your garden?

I see Google are celebrating them today (no idea why!) so if you have any perhaps they should be sharing Gem's birthday cake at the very least!

We inherited a very scruffy shabby individual when we moved into this house and I was just going to throw him out with a load of rubble and rubbish, but OH said NO! It's unlucky to make one homeless!! So he's still here, somewhere in the shrubbery, along with a concrete toad, (or frog!) and a couple of tiny concrete dogs.

I have however got a very handsome, life size goose, who gets moved round the garden every so often so he can have a gander at different views!!!

We don't have any , but my brother has a large grumpy one his children bought him for his Birthday as it looks like him

My late sister was terrified of them , she would cross the road rather than pass a garden with them in
Im not fat just 6ft too small

No Gnomes here, no objection to them but no desire to have one, they multiply.

We inherited a gnome when we cleared our back garden last year when we first moved in here,he looked a bit worse for wear but John painted him up and gave him a new jacket to spruce him up he sits by the side of the man shed and watches the goings on in the garden.
We have a couple of metal cats that we bought in a garden centre and a rather cute hedgehog that sits on a rockery taking in the sun.

          I do like them though.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

A goose! I do not have fond memories of geese. As a child we had geese, free ranging, and they knew I was apprehensive of them. They used to herd me into the coal hole and there I would stay until I was rescued!
We still have the headless, scantily clad woman I sprayed gold but now she stands in front of my g/house/shed, and BrunHilda, a grotesque cement female Viking warrior my brother gave me as a gift, she guards the chalet shed.
I would quite like a gnome or two.

No garden gnomes here but we do have two small scarecrows which GS has named nanny and grandad , they stand in the garden boarders . They come into the shed in the winter , they sit in the window , looking out !
We also have a metal cockerel, he stands on the lawn , we also have a metal water bath in the boarder in the front garden and many, many solar lights

My x MIL had a goose called Matilda many years ago and the thing put me off visiting many a time, when ever I rang the doorbell it would come half running/half fluttering down the side path squarking at the top of its voice, it was better than any guard dog she would profess, she was very upset when neighbours complained about the bird and she had to re-home it in the end. I was not sorry to see the goose go I can tell you.

My mum had gnomes, and a little wishing well, in the front garden, not sure where they are now

I have a few fairies dotted about in the back garden which were presents, but no gnomes.

Grauntie and Glamma - I have fond memories of geese. My SIL and her husband used to live in a large, very old house at the top of a private drive in the middle of nowhere (ie fairly isolated) and my BIL kept chickens and bees and always had a few geese who patrolled the 'grounds' (most of it was farmland). As Glamm says, they are very good guard dogs, which my BIL liked. It was impossible to get to the house without the geese announcing your presence. They would make a show of chasing you but gave up very quickly! I think they knew they had a cushy life there!

No gnomes here but we do have a stone rabbit and tortoise that used to be in my in laws garden and we bought them here when they passed away. Our DS and DS always used to look for them when they were little so it’s nice to have them here.

No gnomes but a stone girl and boy and an angel. Oh and a robin which is fixed to the fence post, so he can see what's going on in the garden 😕

When OH retired he was given a gnome about 3' tall. Our dog knocked it over & it was instantly decapitated. OH glued it together again but weighted it down this time. I might have to pay the dog again when OH's not looking.😉
