    Nice Surprise

I keep track of Martin Lewis's money saving tips and do quite well with money off vouchers etc.
At the beginning of this month I read on one of forums about the Marriage Allowance I had never seen this before and read up about it all seemed easy enough you just have to apply on line (easy questions)you must apply in the name of the person who is the none tax payer ?? think this is right.
Anyway yesterday Mr Tax Man sent me a lovely cheque for 4 yrs back pay of the allowance, you all may have heard of it but if not please check it out as I am booking another holiday with my little windfall

Wow, that's great Glamma, and good for you using your unexpected windfall for something nice

I think I looked into this once, but one of you has to be still working, or receiving pension ? (neither of which applies to us)

We applied for this Glamma, early this year. It's comes quick as well doesn't it. Ours only took a week.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Isn't there something that if you're a UK tax payer you can't get it or you have to give your personal allowance to your partner?

Glamm - how lovely , and well done for following it up.

WeeGranny, I think there is something along those lines, but it's worth checking.

Thanks we'll look into that too, Glamm.

BTW my DD says she heard that in the Gardeners World Mag, out this Tuesday. There is a free 2 for 1 card for entry into 424 gardens in UK and Ireland. Valid until 12th April 2019. Not sure if you have to apply for it online, but the details are in the mag.. Another gem from Martin Lewis.

Thanks GJ! My DD bought us and herself the magazine with that same offer a couple of years ago.
                  I will certainly get this!

Qwerty according to MLs website the allowance has gone up to £900 this past year so certainly worth investigating ladies.
Just remember to claim in the none tax payers name.

Unfortunately the marriage allowance thingy is no good of you're both tax payers!

I wasn’t too sure if we were eligible but I thought I’d give it a go. I applied and lo and behold a nice cheque arrived this morning.
Thank you very much Glamma for drawing our attention to this.I would never have known otherwise.

I obviously don't want to pry or ask personal questions, but am a bit puzzled that so many can get this and we can't, as neither of us are tax payers.
There has to be one tax payer and one none, according to the form.
