    State pension

I know a lot of you lovely ladies are far too young to draw a State pension but if you do and have a card account, have you been told to close your account and have your pension paid into a bank account? My sister in Essex hasn’t been “told” to do this as I have. Our local Post Office is very small ,in the village shop so I hope it is able to let me withdraw cash from my bank account as I like to have a bit of cash in my hand.
Although not a big deal for me a lot of folk (even more elderly than me )could be confused by this change.
Why do we have to change things that are working perfectly well? Of course the answer to that is that it is easier/ cheaper for the Powers that be.

Clover, i didn't know things had been changed.

Iv'e been getting my state pension for the past 6 years, and it's always been paid into the bank.
    So has hubby's.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

As the rules changed, OH and are are not at pensionable age (despite being 64 this year )

I think my mum's is paid into her bank, so that shouldn't be a problem. If not I'm sure I will hear about it!

OH and I both have ours paid into our bank, so I hadn't heard about these changes. I can see it could be a problem, or at least confusing for some people - and not everybody has a bank account!

As you say, Clover - it's all to save money and never mind the worry it might cause for some vulnerable people.

Our pensions go into our bank account,so don't have any experience with a card account. Bit of a pain though. You can withdraw money from your bank account at our Post Office. Hopefully you'll can do that at your PO Clover.
Believe you can and you're halfway there.

OH has his pension paid into the bank once a month . This is a convenient arrangement as he ( well me really ) is able to draw out money when and if needed.
I will have the same arrangement for my pension...when I eventually get it .... was supposed to have it at the age of 60, then it was moved to 64 and then 66 .... only another 2 and a half years to wait Not that I am in the least bit annoyed as you can tell

Oh Mimi that made me chuckle.Love Grumpy.
Seriously though it’s awful that they changed pension age.

Just been to P.O. and all well.I suppose it is easier in the long run,I just don’t like being told what I “must” do.

Yes I think it's a new thing they are phasing in. I've warned my Mam she might be getting a letter at some point.

I did know about this they are encouraging people to have their state pension put into s bank. It’s safer than drawing out at a post office as you don’t know who is watching you and of course it’s going to save money sending it electronically , we have always had ours paid into the bank though , maybe GJ if it’s a small concern in a shop they may have to set up a bank account as the facility in the shop can’t run it as a bank if you know what I mean

I've always had mine paid into my bank account monthly Clover. Safe & convenient.

Like Mimi, I am still waiting for my state pension. As Mimi said, first it was supposed to be age 60, then age 64. The latest news we will get it at age 66. I wonder if that will change again before we get to age 66. At this rate we might be 70 before we get it. Also we have to wait until pension age to get a bus pass. I am so glad I invested in a company pension scheme or I would still be working. I am very happy to be a young age not pensioner

Yes, sunshine, you're just a youngster! But I'm sorry so many of you are having to wait until you're 66 before you get your State pensions.

Government keeps moving the flipping goal posts . Just as I think I qualify for something they change the rules.
At leat I can get free prescriptions and joy upon joy next year I get the free flu vaccine. It’s a good job OH has his pension unwise I don’t know how we would manage. He had a letter today informing him that he will receive the winter fuel allowance in the next three weeks . He has jokingly told me I have to sit out side as the heating is only for him......he does like to live life on the edge!!
