    Lottery anyone?

    Do you do the lottery?

I frequently say 'If I win the lottery' that I will buy this that and the other, or go on wonderful trips.
However, this isn't going to happen. Not only because all odds are stacked against us, but because I rarely buy a ticket!!

I was in a syndicate of 8 for several years at work. We were all sure we would be taking early retirement on a big win OH and I then did 3 lines between us for several years, which I did online.
However apart from OH buying a couple of Lucky Dip tickets every so often. we don't do the lottery now.

I have had the same numbers since the lottery started 21 years ago. If those all come up and I have no ticket, I will be gutted, so I try not to see the results

We do the National lottery online, also the health lottery. In October the national lottery are adding more numbers,so it will make it more difficult to win.Hubby wants me to cancel it then, and get more health lottery tickets.

Not as such. I do our local St Michaels lottery. The money helps fund St MIchaels Hospice . Although the draw is just once a month with the top prize being £1000 the chances of winning are much better . To date I have only won £20 , but I have only been doing it about 12 months.

I occasionally buy a Lottery ticket if there is a few weeks rollover on offer apart from that I do the local Clatterbridge Hospice Lottery by standing order every month and have won a couple of £20s over the past couple of years,I do however always do the Irish Lottery on Saturday as for £2.00 I can get 8 x lines of 3 numbers and I must be honest and say I have been very lucky with these numbers one line of 3 correct numbers will only win you about £150.00 but I have won this on a fair few times over the past few years

I did the Lottery rather half-heartedly in the early days and the best i ever did was £10 for 3 numbers - the same week that DS2 (then at university) got £10 for the other 3 numbers!!!

OH does it most weeks though, but rarely wins anything.

We know someone who won £250,000 on a scratch card a couple of years ago.

Someone that worked at the same place as hubby, won just short of a million about 10 years ago.

I used to buy tickets every wek but when it went up to £2 I gave up. I will occasionally buy a Scratch card. I'm amazed when in the queue to see how much some people spend .

OH buys one especially if there is a rollover. As if £1m is not worth bothering about. He quite often wins a fiver or so and sil reckons he is making a million in very gradual stages! I was in a work syndicate for about three years. £22 per week and only won a few tenners.

I think it is a waste of money! But some people DO win I know the old expression 'you have to be in it to win it' but for me the odds are far too high, and life doesn't work that way very often. O prefer to use my money for other purposes.
