New Bank Card

Hi Ladies,This is the first time I have had to register a new bank card and just need some confirmation that I am right in what I am thinking.
My old card ends 01/21 so I went into my local branch and did the necessary.
I have standing orders coming out at the end of each month for services ie,water/electric/next/house insurance etc so will these automatically come out of the new card I have registered ? the only change on the new card is the last 4 numbers on the 16 numbers on the strip across the card there is no change to the account/sort code.

Glamm - is this either a debit or credit card you are renewing? If you use them to make any regular payments (as opposed to standing orders or direct debits) then you will have to go online to each organisation and change the details, including the expiry date.

You will also have to put the updated card details when you buy online, eg retail stores who keep your details so you don't have to fill everything in when you buy something.

I don't think you have to do anything about your standing orders (or direct debits) as these come out of your account directly.

My OH is out at the moment, but I'll double check with him later.

Daisy I forgot to mention it is a debit card I pay my credit card in full every month if I use it .Thanks so much.

Wouldn't your Direct debits/Standing Orders come out of your bank account rather than off your bank card Glamma? All of ours are paid from our Bank account rather than off a card.
I'd check with your bank if you're not sure.

WeeGranny - yes you're right - DDs and SOs come out of your bank account, but I wondered if Glamm had some regular outgoings that she paid by Debit or Credit card that were taken out automatically. It's definitely a good idea to check.

Glamm standing orders and direct debit payments through your bank don't come off your new bank card they are taken from your bank account so having a new card won't effect them.
If you shop on line or via the phone to any shops that you are a regular customer you will need to update your payment details, this would be by changing the expiry date and some shops also ask for the new cards issue date.
Also the last three numbers on the back of your card will also need to be updated as that would have changed also

SO and DDs mostly come out of bank accounts.

You will need to update details anywhere your old card is registered with - Supermarket, Amazon, Pay Pal etc.

Thanks ladies I have it all sorted now I was just so unsure and trying to get through to CS at my bank has been impossible I was on hold for 35mins at one point just glad it was a freephone no.

Glamm - I'm pleased it's all sorted. I think all the banks are impossible to talk to these days - at least it was a freephone number. xx
