Good and not so good refund news

The refund of £1.813.68 from KLM for the cancelled Florida flights has been returned to my credit card. The good news.

However should we buy replacement flights I do not want to buy them with that card, I want to use Barclaycard. BC was excellent at refunding our fares when Thomas Cook collapsed. I read of many cases at that time where people had great problems and waited many months for any refund on their Tesco credit card.
So I want that large amount of money safely in my bank, then any further flights will be bought with my Barclaycard credit card, which I trust more.

Tesco want to charge over £7o for this. For me to move my own money!!!
I read somewhere that in a case like this of a refund and you moving the credit to your bank account that although you will be charged, that charge will be refunded.

I have messaged Tesco credit cards to confirm this, as I won't move it if I am going to lose all that money.

They advise a reply may take some time. So, we wait and see......

COuldn't you just withdraw the money from your Tesco card and put it in your bank account Gem? I think there's a charge for withdrawing money on a credit card, but it might be cheaper than getting it transferred by Tesco.
Believe you can and you're halfway there.

I have spoken to someone at Tesco CC who said I can transfer any amount I am in credit by ( which is the total amount as I owe nothing on the card) with no fee. She said sometimes the 4.99% fee is inadvertently charged, then is refunded within 7 to 10 days. If by any chance it is charged and isn't refunded in that time to get back to them.
So I now feel confident to move the money to my current account.
It has to be a current account. I will probably move it from there to the savings account to earn at least a tiny bit of interest until we need it!

Thanks for the suggestion WG 😊

I’m sure it doesn’t have to be so complicated, and it’s nonsense that with electronic transfer of funds a transfer or refund can take so long.

Being cynical about such things, I bet that slow-moving money is being put to good use in Tesco’s coffers😡😡😡. They must have huge amounts in their system which they’re not rushing to repay. 😨
