Halloween

I wondered if Halloween might start early (like tonight) as the 31st is a school day, but it's been very quiet. I was also wondering if the firework parties might kick off as well. We've been on high alert with Rescue Remedy and a thunder shirt all night - not for us, but for Eva. She is terrified of fireworks.

This morning someone put a little note through our door saying that some of the children in our road would like to do trick or treat tonight and if we were happy for them to call on us could we put a pumpkin or something outside. If we didn't do that they would leave us alone.

We didn't have any handy pumpkins so about 5 pm we put a row of electric candles down the path. Three groups of children came to the door. They were all excited, all had fantastic costumes etc and they were all very polite and said thank you for the treats. When so much is written about children being rude or aggressive it's nice to be able to say there are some really lovely youngsters around.

Sadly my 4 year old grandson won't be here to share it with me as planned, as he is at home poorly with a bad cold
We shall prepare for any early trick or treaters, then shut the curtains and bring in the lanterns!

Sweets bought. Ready for anyone who calls. 3 bags from the pound shop. Today I made a ghost costume for my GS2. It has a hood with a strand of embroidery cotton with a spider I made hanging from the end. Material came from a white sheet. I also drew cartoon happy eyes & smiley mouth on the front. Hope he likes it.🕸🕷👻

Mini bags of haribo ready here, plus little foil wrapped chocolate discs for vegetarians! I have an orange plastic Trick or Treat bowl from Wilko which I will put them all in.
GS1 will be here this year. Dressed as a bat. As usual, we will bring in the pumpkin lantern and close the curtains by around 7pm, so catch the little ones with mum and dad rather than the teenagers who may be around later on!

I've got a basket of goodies by the front door ready for any little visitors. But I expect nothing will happen until tomorrow and OH and I will both be out - he's wood turning and me at dog training, so I think I'll leave the basket on the doorstep with a note saying help yourself.

Not a fan of Halloween the kids are visiting in their own street and area so don’t expect to see them, bought all of g/c Halloween crackers that’s a new one on me , I don’t discourage kids from visiting us I keep sweets but we don’t get many it’s quite dark being next door to a farm it’s fields as far as you can see so no lights, we also have big wooden gates that are difficult to open so usually move on to someone else 👻

I love Halloween , each year we have seen the little ones come then gone to DD for a party , but GS1 is too old now so we will be in all night ,

All my Decs are up just the pumpkin and skull ( Battery operated ) to put out and light tomorrow night and the Bat and Pumpkin streamers to hang on the porch roof outside along with the hanging Pumpkin Ghost ,
Sweets in their Orange bowl ready and waiting ,

Mind you we have lots of organised party's hear for the children so we don't get as many as we did , but we love to see them all dressed up

We are all ready for tomorrow night now.
OH has carved the pumpkin. When I get back with GS after school we will light the pumpkin lantern and the battery operated one that I have, get GS into his bat outfit, and me in my witches hat, and wait for callers

I don't know what my GDs are doing - I'm sure GD2 will tell me tomorrow. The GSs always have lots of decorations inside and out and their other grandad usually does fireworks around Hallowe'en/Bonfire night for them.

We will of course want to see photos of all those who are dressing up! Please!

Dd said she tried his ghost costume on him & she said no sooner was it on that it was off again. She said to him that I'd made it specially for him to which he said " but it's not halloween yet". Can't argue with that. 😉
