    Father's Day

Are any dads or granddads being spoilt this Sunday?

I don't think Fathers tend to be taken out for lunch etc in the same way as mums are do they?
My lovely dads birthday was June 22nd. It was usually fairly close to Father's Day. He used to say this was unfair and that we shouldn't have to buy him two presents. One would do We took no notice of course!

I don't ever remember taking him out to lunch but I think he came to us a couple of times over the years. Mum was almost always taken out and in later days came to me for the day.

As my lovely dad is gone, as is OH's and I am divorced from my DDs dad, father's day has no importance to me now.

This year however I will see most of the dads in the family as it is SIL2' birthday party!
2 SIL's, my ex and SIL2's dad will all be there.
I am happy for SIL3, a Super Dad if ever there was one, for his first Father's Day

It wasn’t a thing when my Dad was alive , he’s been dead 51 years now , I would have loved to have spoilt him on Fathers day as he and I got older .
FIL wouldn't celebrate he didn’t even like a card he always said it was American rubbish .
Not sure if it came from America but that’s what he believed .

We meet for breakfast on Father’s Day for B , SIL , and SILs father .
They get gifts but none of them are fussed .
I don’t think it’s the same for men is it .
Im not fat just 6ft too small

Oma, you're right, Father's Day was unheard of years ago. But why shouldn't families make a fuss of fathers as well as mothers! As Gem says, with no father or father-in-law to celebrate with we don't have any real role, but both our DSs always give my OH a card and gift and try to see him on the day.

OH has already had a gift from DS1 - when they went for DS's flight in a Tiger Moth yesterday there was a 15-minute slot free and he paid for OH to have it. It was a lovely surprise for OH and they both had a memorable day.

We'll be back at DS1's on Fathers Day itself, which is lovely, even though they will be working to complete a job in the garden, providing the materials have been delivered.

We'll also probably see DS2 at some point, but not sure when as they've got a busy week-end.

Fathers day is always about the same time as DS1 birthday, which was yesterday.
DS1 told both of his girls not to buy him anything, saying there is nothing he needs.
I know neither of them will listen.

Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Oma, my OH wouldn’t agree to Father’s Day and said it was American rubbish and Mothers Day was supposed to be Mothering Sunday when children gave their mothers a posy of flowers.

Plant, my MIL was always insistent that it was Mothering Sunday and the children gave their mum a posy of seasonal flowers after Church.
