    Grandson's Diva lamp

Yesterday my four year old grandson came out of school proudly carrying a Diva (for Diwali) lamp he had made. Grandma carried it to the car for safe keeping!
He has painted his clay base purple and decorated it will glitter. In it shone a plastic tealight which changed colours. We put it on the shelf in the hall so mummy would see it shining there when she came in.

I really wish I had taken a photo!!

Delighted to hear his school is celebrating Diwali. I feel for the Hindus, Sikhs etc who won’t be celebrating as they usually would. I can’t imagine not being able to see anyone at Christmas. At the first lockdown Eid was cancelled at the last minute. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen at Christmas.

Gem - has GS1's mummy taken a photo of his Diva lamp? It sounds as though he put a lot of care and effort into making it.

Sunshine - I agree, so many religious celebrations and obligations have been disrupted this year because of Covid and the various restrictions.

                  I'll ask, Daisy.
As he is only 4 it's a pretty basic design, but lovely nonetheless

Gem, I think what you call a basic design is what's so appealing about young children's creative work. They strip things back to the essentials and as we get older I think we find it harder to see that and we get wrapped up in detail.

                      Here it is.
The candle, pink here, changes colour, so it's really colourful and effective.
