    Bank Holiday

This is the strangest Bank Holiday. Not only have we just had one (on a Friday) now we have another, which seems meaningless to almost everyone in the strange new world!
To be fair it does mean something to those working from home, and those who have returned to work, but generally most people don't know what day it is let alone if it is a bank Holiday

I heard on the radio the other day about a proposal that we have an extra Bank Holiday in October this year, to make up for those missed in lockdown.

Ooh, goody, another bank holiday πŸ˜€. To be honest, I don’t even know what day it is, so means nothing to me....it’s like Groundhog Day, only not so much fun πŸ€ͺ

The only difference I've noticed since lockdown is that at week-ends as all these non-event bank holidays everyone seems to be burning sausages or steaks in their gardens! I'm feeling unreasonably grumpy about it.

I read in one of the papers that someone said we have had about 8 weeks of bank holidays. Every day has been the same !

Also read that there is a suggestion that we could have another bank holiday in October to boost the tourist trade that is suffering at this present time. Nice idea but with so many people who have had to put their mortgage/rent/ credit card payments on hold and uncertainty about their jobs will there be any spare cash for a holiday?

Mimi - I wondered the same about the possible October Bank Holiday. So many people will have no money to spare for such luxuries. On the other hand, those who have continued to work and can perhaps afford a little holiday could give our tourist industry a boost before winter sets in.

On a slightly different tack - I've always said we have too many Bank holidays all together in the Spring, especially if Easter is late. Then there's only the end of August BH between the end of May and Christmas. It's crazy. I would move the May Day holiday (which is a relatively recent innovation) to the end of October to coincide with half-term.

I hadn't realised it was Bank Holiday. Because DD works for a school on line atm, she has this week off.

October would be a good time Daisy.
There are a whole bunch of BHs in a few weeks, then the end of August one, then none until Christmas

I was wondering if there's been any more said about an extra Bank Holiday at the end of October? Does anybody know?

                  I'm just curious.
