Last Bank Holiday of the summer

August Bank Holiday, and good weather forecast for most of us, most unusual!

It is rare for us to be doing anything special over a bank holiday. There is usually some sort of family get together over the long Easter one, but otherwise not.
This time we are busy! I was out for a meal last night.
On Monday we shall be at a friends house. A fairly long standing invitation to a buffet and a few friends round which they do at some point every summer.
Then my ex OH invited everyone to an impromptu barbecue at theirs tomorrow. All DDs and GC can go, as can we. They have put the paddling pool up today , so the children can cool off.

Have you any social plans? Or will you be catching up with the garden, or just relaxing?

Gem, there's always something a bit sad about this Bank Holiday - it seems to mark the end of 'proper' summer, and already the nights are drawing in, and there's been a bit of a chill in the air early mornings.

But it's also our GD1's birthday week-end - she will be 9 tomorrow (Sunday). Her mum and dad are having an open house party/barbecue for her, and they've secretly arranged for her best friend to be there. Most of her friends are occupied with family or holidays over the Bank Holiday. It's not the best time for a birthday! We'll pop over at some point - not sure when yet.

We haven't any plans to do anything , We meeting friends for coffee at the dog friendly garden centre Café and they will be bringing Storm back to us
apart from that a easy day I think

Very quiet for me unusually. DD and OH are in Yorkshire staying with GD2's boyfriends family. they are not back until Tues. Haven't heard anything from DS and family so presume they are busy. GS1, his wife and GGS are at a BBQ so very quiet here.

Hasn't it been lovely having the warmth and sunshine on a late Summer Bank Holiday? Been out on the hammock and popping in to watch the cricket.....ended up watching the end of the match, very exciting, even for a Scot!
Spoke to DS earlier and he's hoping that it'll be a bit cooler here than Slovakia!
Dinner will be outside tonight...when I get round to making it!

WeGranny - I missed the cricket! It's certainly been a summer of exciting nail biting matches.

I just happened to mention to John last night at just before 9pm how dark it had gone outside so we are on the downward slide towards darker nights.
The weather here is warm but not sun cracking flags type of weather so we are slowly creeping towards that time in December aren't we.
To-day is one of the first day's of Beatle Week in Liverpool and a local band is recreating that famous roof top performance by the fab four on a roof here in Town at The Shankly pub & Hotel it will be packed I'm sure I am not going to-day but am going over either tomorrow or Wednesday to position myself in The Cavern and listen to the old songs whilst having a shandy or two & a bowl of proper chips. I'll go on my own via bus I enjoy just mooching about the area listening to the impromtu groups who come to Liverpool to celebrate the week with us locals.

Glamm - I've noticed the evenings getting darker as well. It seems to be happening far too quickly!

The Beatles Week sounds fun. It brings back memories of the Shakespeare Club, which we often used to go to in the late 60s early 70s. I think it was burned down in 1976 or 7, but I can remember groups of us singing the songs of which ever act we'd seen as we walked back down to the ferry. Happy times.

The evenings are really drawing in, I am on holiday from Sunday week for a week in Norfolk. Hope the weather is kind because we have a packed itinery.

That sounds a nice thing to do Glamm, just mooching around, I like to do that.

The cricket was nail-biting to say the least Plant! Have managed to get tickets for Day 5 of the last Test at the Oval.....hopefully it won't all be over by then. But even if there is no play, we get our money back! And at £25 a ticket worth the chance!

I'm not a sport lover, but I enjoy cricket when it's as exciting as this summer.
