Easter traditions

Do you have any family Easter traditions? Religious or otherwise?

My mum to the end of her life had to have fish on Good Friday. Maybe it was due to having an Italian Catholic father I don't know. To be honest a lot of Good Fridays in my adult life I have eaten fish. Not for religious reasons but for tradition.
The same with hot cross buns. We have always had those at Easter. We don't eat our Easter eggs before Sunday.

We have a least one family Easter egg hunt. This year we are having it early today. On Easter Sunday, tomorrow, both DDs 2 and 3 are having Easter parties with friends and their children. More Egg hunting

We usually do some Easter crafting together as family, and that will be today.

The only tradition i have, is buying Easter eggs.

We had fish for dinner yesterday,but only because we hadn't had any during the week.

Oh, i also buy hot cross buns.

We usually have Easter dinner together,
Now the grandchildren are grown we don't have any traditions,
We did have Hot cross buns yesterday but I buy them all year round.

When we were at home everyone had fish on a Friday especially good Friday ,
I think that was just a old fashioned tradition,

We are not religious in any shape or form so it has no great significance to us or our children,

No traditions here, when the children and grandchildren were small there would be eggs hidden, they are a bit old for that now.

No hot cross buns here!

I am going to DS2 for lunch tomorrow, it is his birthday on Wednesday so will see him earlier.

DS1 has just been for coffee and a chat! He is going to lower my washing rack, only didn't have the drill with him so that will happen another time, I have just changed all the bolts etc so it does look like new!! I have had it 20 years now, I ordered it from a half price sale at Lakeland UK when I knew what the size of our balcony was going to be, it was delivered to my sister in the UK, she loved the look of it and wanted to order one but they were sold out.

When the children were little they always had something new to wear on Easter Sunday. I usually made a Simnel cake and Rice Crispy nests with little chocolate eggs in. Easter eggs were for Easter Sunday, but we'd blow and paint hens' eggs for decorations. We always had fish on Good Friday, and hot cross buns all over the week-end. The week-end usually involved being with family, either up in North Wales or at wherever we were living at the time.

We never did Easter egg hunts. Somehow that activity passed us by.

I went to a C of E junior school and I remember we were expected to go to church on Good Friday. My Catholic friends had to go to church on Ash Wednesday as well.
